Fire Alarm Technician / Electrician

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a reliable, experienced, Fire Alarm Technician to work full time for SJS at Naval Station Norfolk to help support operations.

SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 150 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.

The Pay for this position will be $32.00/Hr. The benefits will also include 11 paid Federal holidays per year, 56 hours accrued Sick time; and medical, health, dental, vision and life insurance package.

This person will enjoy collaborating with a team and know how to conduct themselves with decorum, as they will be working on a property owned by the United States federal government and interacting with federal government employees and service members.

Responsibilities will include:

• Installs, repairs, troubleshoots, modifies, loads and tests new and existing electrical systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment, including secondary distribution lines.
• Maintains the electronic control consoles located at each Base Fire Alarm Headquarters and is responsible for the operation, adjustment and repair of all master alarm boxes, associated underground cables, master circuits, vocal systems, ticker circuits, mechanical registers, time and date stamps and back-up recording systems.
• Installs, repairs, troubleshoots, modifies, loads and tests new and existing electrical systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment, including secondary distribution lines.
• Performs basic test and repair of intrusion alarms and public address systems. Makes adjustments and solves problems by use of electrical formulas for computing voltages, resistances, amperages, capacitance and frequencies
• Fabricates various electrical parts using various materials of appropriate conducting, resisting or insulating properties.
• Plugs and/or jumps out station fire alarm boxes wired into Fire Alarm Headquarters and checks for proper operation while tests are being made.
• Maintains and repairs electronic and electrical 60 and 400 cycle generators and their associated control and regulating equipment and machinery. Tests and repairs electric equipment and appliances.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must have 4+ years’ experience as an electrician with experience with Fire Alarms Systems.
• Must possess a sound working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
• Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
