Shearing Machine Operator Tasks & Duties (What you'll do)
Set up and operate shearing machines to cut metal sheets, plates, or other materials according to production specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine cutting requirements.
Select and install appropriate cutting tools and dies based on material type, thickness, and dimensions.
Adjust machine settings such as blade clearance, cutting speed, and feed rate to achieve accurate cuts and maximize efficiency.
Feed material into the shearing machine and monitor the cutting process to ensure quality and precision.
Inspect cut pieces for defects, such as burrs or uneven edges, and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality standards.
Perform routine maintenance tasks on shearing machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machine operation, such as blade dullness or material misalignment, to minimize downtime.
Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Shearing Machine Operator Shift Info
Day Shift, 8:00am to 4:30pm
Monday - Friday
Shearing Machine Operator Qualifications (Requirements/Skills)
Machinist experience required
Strong knowledge of machines in a manufacturing setting
Ability to accurately read blueprints, sketches and/or computer-aided designs
Able to pass a background check
Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Able to work in the US
