Exciting Opportunity for School Travel Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Astoria, Oregon

Bilingual Therapies is seeking a dynamic and passionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team in Astoria, Oregon. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments in diverse educational settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students who are blind, going blind, have limited sight, or have another visual impairment, utilizing specialized techniques and materials to promote academic and functional skills development.
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and collaborate with educational teams to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to meet students' individual needs.
  • Adapt classroom materials and technology to accommodate students' visual impairments and facilitate access to the curriculum, including proficiency in braille.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive learning environments and promote students' independence and success.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or related field.
  • Oregon state certification or eligibility for certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
  • Previous experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired in educational settings is preferred.
  • Proficiency in braille and other specialized instructional techniques for students with visual impairments.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
