Job Description

The Supply Chain Manager oversees the control and movement of materials in and out of the facility. Will be the leader for plant Logistics. Key to this role is to champion Lean implementation & sustained execution in the areas of Logistics, material flow, warehousing, production control, etc. Investigates new developments relative to material and supplies and makes recommendations to reduce costs and improve quality.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Lead Lean activities for plant and warehouse Logistics.
  • Implements and drives continuous improvement efforts.
  • Directs functions related to the warehouse, production material flow, shipping, and inventory control.
  • Implements methods and policies that ensure the most efficient and effective material control. Works to reduce repetitive material movements.
  • Pursues methods to reduce inventory to the lowest level consistent with required production and delivery needs. Tracks and improves inventory control and improves inventory turns.
  • Analyzes and evaluates delivery problems and implements solutions.
  • Responsible for the master schedule to meet customer requirements while maximizing manufacturing efficiency and maintaining the lowest effective inventory levels. Manages the production planning team.
  • Provides necessary material controls to meet customer specifications.
  • Participates in the disposition of materials as required by quality system procedures. Reviews and processes claims for material discrepancies. Participation in associated corrective action activities.
  • Maintains budget compliance and develops plans for cost reductions where appropriate.
  • Deploys quality systems in the department for compliance with documented procedures and to achieve improvement goals.
  • Develops employees to ensure maximum utilization of skills and personal growth for interested employees.
  • Must be dedicated to continual kaizen so that the work environment of staff will be increasingly safer and provide quality products to our customers.
  • Provides staff with tasks and targets to increase their skill level and manage their job content, volume, quality, and due dates in order to eliminate waste.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 6-8 years’ experience of progressively increasing responsibility in related plant Supply Chain functions such as Logistics, production scheduling, inventory control, and warehousing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ERP systems.
  • Proven track record in Lean manufacturing and success in implementation of redesigned processes
  • Six Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt or Lean Master Certification preferred.
