Overview


We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Sr. Applications Engineer to join our GRW Bearings team to provide technical ball bearing support to the US sales team and customer base. Technical support includes the use of theoretical calculators, bearing expertise, industry know-how, and failure mode investigations. Manage multiple projects and act as point of contact for a diverse team both domestically and Germany HQ.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Act as primary liaison to GRW Germany engineering with in-depth knowledge of programs and processes.
  • Train and coach engineering, sales and business development teams on new developments or changes in processes.
  • Daily Operation: Responsible to handle all internal engineering needs for our customers. Related to Drawing review, spec-sheet creation and bearing calculations. Also ability to work on quotations and pricing needs for our outside sales team within our ERP system (Pro Alpha).
  • Current and New Business Development Support: Responsible to assist the outside sales team with bearing engineering and design assistance. Work with Germany Competency Team leaders and other members to provide the best engineering support to our customers.
  • Establish and introduce new SOPs in attempt to streamline processes at GRW USA. Contribute to 5S program in work area.
  • Support marketing efforts by providing technical expertise and incorporate new product developments in announcements.
  • Time Management: Responsibility to efficiently manage time and internal tasks accordingly. Use of Microsoft Outlook calendar as basis for customer visits and travel. Work with sales team to coordinate monthly customer visits where engineering support is necessary. Take initiative to visit customers as needed.
  • Training: Responsible to constantly train within the company. Whether it is a trip to Germany or finding time to work with CT leaders when they come to the USA. Take initiative to continue to improve bearing engineering skills for GRW success.
  • Create test plans and/or test reports for planned or completed in-house bearing tests, as required.

Qualifications


Education:

B.S. degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical/Metallurgy/Civil Engineering.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering or other relevant experience. Bearing sales or engineering experience a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization including executive and C-level management
  • Experience in delivering client-focused engineering solutions based on customer needs
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail
  • Experience using a CRM Database
  • Miniature ball bearing engineering experience a plus
