Madden Industrial Craftsmen is looking to fill an Estimator/Project Manager position with a fabrication shop, in Portland, OR. The person in this position will estimate fabrication projects and manage the jobs from purchasing materials, to interacting with vendors, customers, and internal staff, to oversight of ongoing job costs.
PAY: $32-$42/hr
Estimator/Project Manager Responsibilities:
- Research projects, prepare bids, get Operation Manager’s approval then submit timely, complete, and accurate proposals.
- Estimate fabrication projects as they are distributed to you, which includes field measurements and interaction with customers, vendors, and other clients.
- Contract review and compliance.
- Prepare work order/traveler and cost coded budgets for MS Project input.
- Manage procurement of materials, subcontractors, and equipment needed for the awarded contract.
- Coordinate with Production/Operation Supervisor and Operation Manager to ensure projects are run efficiently, profitably, and on schedule.
- Work with foreman and other estimators to maximize efficiency and deliver projects profitably and on time.
- Identify and generate business. Network and establish/maintain customer relationships.
- Coordinate shop drawing process (working with internal Drafter, self-generated CAD and/or manual drawings, and customer drawings).
Estimator/Project Manager Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in metal fabrication industry and estimating.
- Experience with MS Project preferred.
- Understanding of the technical requirements of the industry and metal fabrication equipment and processes.
- Strong staff management, analytical, and people skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to problem solve.
- Knowledge Codes and established procedures including AISC, AWS, ASME, OSHA.
- Ability to manage in a multi-task environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Metal Fabrication Estimating, CAD, blueprint reading, and lean manufacturing processes.
