TDX Global is a subsidiary of Tanadgusix Corporation (TDX), an Alaska Native village corporation created under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) of 1971. TDX Shareholders live in, or have ancestral ties to, the village of St. Paul, Alaska. We are currently recruiting a Power Generation Technician (PPU) in Guam.


JOB SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for participating in the day-to-day flow of operational responsibilities and being conversant with the broad range of mechanical, electrical and control issues involved in typical diesel engine driven generator operations. Will serve as the primary point of contact for all troubleshooting and repairs required on the power generations equipment outside of the regular scheduled maintenance. Technical ability to lead and guide the equipment operators in the operation, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, setup and teardown of sophisticated mobile generators and associated equipment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide support as part of an integrated team for a US Army Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Fire Unit; embedded with the military component to augment the skills of the soldier operators/maintainers who will provide primary field support for the power generation and distribution equipment.
  • Provide support to the soldier operator/maintainer for maintenance and repairs to the Prime Power Unit (PPU) and power distribution equipment while located at locations outside the United States.
  • May be required to provide 24-hour technical support to the Power Systems Manager via a Company issued mobile phone.
  • Will be responsible to assist the equipment operators with maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of the power generation equipment as required.
  • Primary responsibility will be to troubleshoot and repair any/all faults, failures, and issues with the power generation equipment outside of regular scheduled maintenance that cannot be resolved by the equipment operators.
  • Serve as the PPU Subject Matter Expert (SME) to guide the operator/maintainers in the event operations or maintenance tasks fall outside the instructions/procedures contained within the Army TM 9-1430-610-13.
  • Support the operator/maintainers in the performance of the tasks listed and shall complete any service/repair that is not detailed in TM9-1430-610-13: Operations in accordance with the directed Concept of Operations (CONOPS), system emplacement and power up, health and status monitoring, preventative maintenance, scheduled maintenance, emergency maintenance, and service and fueling
  • Responsible for maintaining the PPU tool kit, ensuring all special test equipment is properly calibrated and all tools are accounted for per the Raytheon Forward Based X-Band Transportable radar (FBX-T) Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) Site Tool Control Procedure.
  • Will deploy with the assigned team for both local and international assignments to provide support as the PPU SME. Assignments could last anywhere from a few weeks to 12 months at a minimum. Must be ready to deploy within 36 hours of being notified.
  • If within the United States, the technician must be able to report to the worksite within 1 hour of being called in the event of an emergency.
  • Without direct supervision, solve practical problems with a variety of variables; trouble shoot and repair equipment malfunctions, within limits of competence in the affected area. For problems beyond your area of specific competence, site and TDX management or assigned backups in specialized areas to be notified immediately after securing effective equipment or systems and ensuring safety of all personnel in proximity.
  • On generating sites, readings of all instrumentation defining such things as kilowatt-hours (KWh) produced, fuel consumed, voltage, frequency (hertz, or Hz) and current at given intervals, usually every two hours. Further readings to support or backup automatic data logging devices will be determined by the site supervision.
  • Comply with all required environmental health and safety programs.
  • Be available as needed to support operations issues that may arise, unless specific approval has been given by supervision to be out of range of the operations location.
  • Work extended work schedules as required supporting the project execution plans and schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess and maintain security clearance, which requires US citizenship.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience with diesel engine driven generators
  • Able to successfully complete the Army’s Soldier Readiness Program and be declared “DEPLOYABLE” by the Deployment Medical Officer
  • Working knowledge of power plant generation systems. UPS systems, high, medium and low voltage distribution systems, control circuitry, control logic, automatic and manual transfer systems, general operating, troubleshooting and repair techniques are required.
  • Extensive working knowledge of principles of diesel generation operations to include, but not limited to, electrical controls, electrical connections, electrical safeties, engine operation, maintenance, and repair, testing and troubleshooting of generators, switchgear and other power plant equipment, use of all common trade tools, instrumentation and test equipment as required.
  • Experience in using computerized diagnostic and troubleshooting tools.
  • Qualified to operate a forklift, loader, and standard truck.
  • A valid drivers' license issued by state of residence and in good standing is required.

  • Capable of functioning independently and undertake various technical roles when required.
  • Able to multi-task.
