Teche Action Clinic, A Federally Qualified Health Center, per Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act, is currently seeking qualified applicants for the Pharmacy Technician Position in Morgan City, Louisiana. 


JOB SUMMARY:


Employees at this level perform basic pharmaceutical duties. They work under direct supervision of Registered Pharmacists and may be managed by higher level Pharmacy Technicians.  


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  


  • Enter prescription information into the Pharmacy and Health Center Computer Systems.
  • Prepare prepackaging and labeling of unit and multiple dose packages pursuant to appropriate procedures under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist.
  • Assist the Pharmacist in preparing prescriptions under his/her direct supervision, except the final dispensing which is to be performed by the pharmacist.
  • Assist in the preparation of products in the Pharmacy where such products are not administered to the patient and when done pursuant to appropriate procedures under direct supervision of the Pharmacist, who conducts in process, and final checks.
  • Maintain control inventory records, and assist the Pharmacist with ordering, determining optimum purchase quantities, receiving inventory, and accomplishing returns of excess and outdated inventory.
  • Assist in accomplishing third party billing and maintenance of records.
  • Issue supplies and other products to physicians and/or other departments pursuant to appropriate procedures.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the Pharmacist.

  

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION  and/or EXPERIENCE:


  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent-as evidenced by credential
  • Required State hours of training-on-the-job (Technician Permit)
  • State and/or National Certification/License
  • 0 – 10 years experience as pharmacy technician
  • Knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to multicultural groups, encompassing their socio-economic backgrounds
  • Licensure or ability to obtain licensure when background credentials warrant
  • Must complete ACPE or CPE continuing education each year as a prerequisite for annual renewal of license.


Communication Ability:


  • Excellent communication skills at level necessary for understanding and relaying information to patients/co-workers
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.


Math Ability:


  • Basic math skills

  

REASONING ABILITY:


  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives
  • Skill in exercising judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting clinic policies and procedures.


Computer Skills:

  • Education/training or work experience in computer basics and data entries
  • Skill in utilizing computers, pharmacy software
  • Ability to utilize the ECW systems.

 

Professional Skills:

  • Knowledge of the purposes, organization and policies of the community’s health systems sufficient to interact with other health care providers, patients and the public
  • Skill in organizing work, making assignments, and achieving goals and objectives knowledge of the policies and procedures of the clinic
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment
  • Ability to be culturally sensitive and effective when working with ethnically diverse populations
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards
  • Ability to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS:

 

Must be Louisiana Board of Pharmacy licensed to practice and must complete a minimum of one ACPE unit approved ACPE or CPE, or ten hours of continuing education each year as a prerequisite for annual renewal of license.

Eligibility Requirements:
