Requirements

Director of Building Controls Operations: This is where you come in.

As the Director of Building Controls Operations, you will oversee and manage the activities and performance of various teams, including project management, low voltage electrical, controls specialists, and smart building analysts & integrators. Your primary focus will be on projects related to new construction, tenant improvement, and owner-directed work.

1. Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Plan, organize, and direct all installation and activities for assigned projects or service accounts.
  • Develop project plans, monitor progress, and ensure execution aligns with schedules, job specifications, and budgets.

2. Organizational Leadership:

  • Build and maintain an effective operations organization committed to customer and employee satisfaction.
  • Foster a positive work environment and drive profitable growth.

3. Effective Communication and Coordination:

  • Facilitate timely communication and harmonious relationships between MMFS personnel.
  • Ensure project details, changes, or discrepancies are coordinated to minimize costs and prevent delays.

4. Resource Management:

  • Manage manpower/staffing requirements, including hiring, training, and performance assessment.
  • Develop requirements for tools and related investments.

5. Process Improvement and Policy Enhancement:

  • Review and improve current policies and procedures for Project Management, Low Voltage Electrical, Controls Specialists, and Smart Building Analysts & Integrators.
  • Implement new policies and performance expectations as needed.

The Director of Building Controls Operations role reports to George Pfeiffer / Director of Building Controls on a collaborative team working on a variety of projects and initiatives to support our growing business. This highly visible role interacts with all levels and functions within the organization.

Your Background: What kind of person will thrive in this role?

You should have…

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field provides foundational knowledge and demonstrates educational attainment.
  • Five or more years of experience in building controls is essential. This expertise ensures familiarity with systems, protocols, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects involving technical and business stakeholders. Effective collaboration across teams is crucial.
  • Strong technical understanding of disruptive technologies such as cloud computing, IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Staying abreast of advancements is vital.
  • Understanding of finance and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash-flow management. Financial acumen contributes to effective decision-making.
  • Prior experience managing complex projects and programs involving business processes, technology, data, and reporting. Project management skills are essential.

Benefits

Compensation: $150,000 to $195,000 Annually
