Job: As a Registered Nurse (RN) in a hospital setting in the state of West Virginia, you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate and competent care to patients across various units within the hospital. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care according to established protocols and standards of practice.

Responsibilities:

1. **Patient Care and Monitoring:**

- Assist in the assessment of patients' health status by collecting and documenting relevant data, including vital signs, symptoms, and changes in condition.

- Monitor patients' responses to treatment and interventions, reporting any abnormalities or concerns to the supervising RN or healthcare team.

2. **Medication Administration and Procedures:**

- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians or authorized healthcare providers, following established protocols and medication administration guidelines.

- Perform routine nursing procedures and technical tasks, such as wound care, catheterization, and specimen collection, with competence and attention to patient safety.

3. **Documentation and Record-Keeping:**

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses in electronic health records (EHRs) or other designated documentation systems.

- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies related to documentation, confidentiality, and record-keeping standards.

4. **Patient Education and Support:**

- Provide basic health education to patients and their families regarding self-care practices, medication adherence, and disease management strategies.

- Offer emotional support and comfort to patients during their hospitalization, promoting a therapeutic and compassionate environment conducive to healing.

5. **Collaboration and Communication:**

- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including RNs, physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff, to coordinate and optimize patient care delivery.

- Communicate pertinent patient information, changes in condition, and care plans during shift handoffs and interdisciplinary rounds.

6. **Safety and Infection Control:**

- Adhere to infection control practices and protocols to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and promote patient safety.

- Identify and report potential safety hazards or environmental concerns within the hospital setting, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and safety.

7. **Professional Development:**

- Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance clinical knowledge, skills, and competencies relevant to the practice of nursing in the hospital setting.

- Participate in training programs, continuing education opportunities, and performance improvement initiatives to maintain licensure and meet professional standards of practice.

Qualifications:

- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of West Virginia.

- Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program with a diploma or certificate.

- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; additional certifications or training may be preferred depending on the unit or specialty area.

- Prior experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred but not required for entry-level positions.

- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care, professionalism, and ethical nursing practice.
