POSITION PURPOSE:

The VP of Human Resources (HR) will collaborate with the management team to shape the company’s vision and mission. Develop strategic HR plans and policies, including recruitment, training, and compensation. Hire, guide, and evaluate HR executives, ensure compliance with labor laws, and analyze HR operations using metrics and analytics. The role involves promoting equal opportunity and diversity, managing labor and employee relations, and re-engineering processes for efficiency. Provide reports to the CEO and play a crucial role in driving the long-term success of HR and the organization as a whole.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement HR strategies that support the company's mission, vision, and strategic goals.
  • Provide guidance on talent acquisition, talent management, organizational development, and workforce planning.
  • Oversee the design and administration of competitive and equitable compensation and benefits programs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations.
  • Stay current on employment laws and regulations to ensure the organization's compliance.
  • Mitigate HR-related risks and address legal issues as needed.
  • Design and implement performance management processes that align with business goals and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance on employee performance, feedback, and recognition.
  • Lead the talent acquisition strategy, including recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts.
  • Implement programs for professional development, training, and succession planning.
  • Oversee employee relations, ensuring a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Oversees organizational recruitment, retention, and off-boarding processes.
  • Oversees internal and external recruitment activities including posting of openings, advertising, screening applications, and site visits. Assists managers in developing and updating job descriptions and recruitment materials and customizing recruitment strategies in support of specific positions.
  • Oversees the assisting of managers throughout selection and hiring processes including screening applicants, scheduling and participating in interviews, and selection of candidates. Ensures compliance with state and federal law governing recruiting and hiring.
  • Works with human resources staff and managers to develop and implement on-boarding and training plans for new employees.
  • Works with the human resources staff to prepare and process employment offers and employment contracts.Is involved the employment contract negotiation process.
  • Periodically assesses employee job satisfaction and engagement and leads the human resources department in developing employee engagement initiatives that align with the organizational strategy.
  • Promotes an organizational culture of accountability, integrity, and the support of diversity and inclusion.
  • Keeps managers apprised of performance review due dates and monitors corrective action plans for updates and completion.
  • Oversees the administration and development of innovative benefit plans, including renewal, enrollment, orientation, and educational sessions.
  • Oversees and assists in the development and administration of leave management plans.
  • Coordinates with payroll to ensure human resources documentation meets organizational needs, including capturing data required for governmental reporting.
  • Works with outside resources to regularly (e.g. every two years) conduct/update salary and benefits market study; makes job classification recommendations as needed.
  • Makes recommendations concerning pay changes, salary increases, and benefit plan changes to the CEO and Leadership Teams.
  • Reviews proposals, contracts, and policies from insurance carriers and service providers; solicits staff feedback on satisfaction and preferences; and makes recommendations to the CEO and Leadership Team.
  • Oversees the maintenance of HR files, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Acts as primary point of contact for personnel issues, such as employee grievances, sexual harassment and discrimination issues, and other work-related complaints and concerns. Engages in conflict resolution and mediation to resolve staffing issues and challenges.
  • Ensures compliance with labor laws, OSHA and employment laws.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to report and monitor employee workers compensation.
  • Develops, interprets, and edits personnel policies and procedures; responds to requests for information and assistance from management and employees.
  • Involved with employee development and learning initiatives.
  • Serves as a mentor and coach for the human resources staff and actively supports on-going career development.
  • Provides assistance in other areas that fall within the responsibilities of the HR functions.
  • Performs other duties, projects or tasks as assigned by CEO.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five (5) years of proven experience in a senior HR role or VP of Human Resources experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in related field preferred.
  • Requires a high level of understanding of Human Resources management.
  • Experience in strategic planning and implementation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to collaborate and interact with a diverse group of health care and other professionals.
  • Ability to strongly embrace and personify the mission of UCHC.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work appropriately.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must be able to perform the following physical requirements:

  • Remain in a stationary position 85% of the day while performing administrative functions.
  • Move or traverse 15% of the day throughout the office.
  • Operate computer, phone, and other office equipment 85% of the day while performing administrative functions.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and accurately so others will understand; ability to interact with patients and staff clearly.
  • Able to move or transport up to 15 pounds while assisting team with events.
  • Work indoors in heat-controlled environment 95% of the day.
  • OSHA Exposure Category – Category #2: The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.]
  • In person work with periodic remote work generally during normal office hours but varied hours as the need arises.
  • May require periodic travel and ability to drive company vehicle.
