Job Description

We are looking for a FULL TIME, ON-SITE Medical Assistant to join Bliv and help us provide quality healthcare services to our patients. The ideal candidate will be organized, compassionate, and have an excellent understanding of medical terminology.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies for requested medical procedures/treatments
  • Monitor the progress of authorization requests throughout the process
  • Assist the physician/nurse during patient examinations and consultations
  • Schedule appointments for patients and ensure that medical records/notes are up to date
  • Provide patients with information regarding medication and treatments
  • Maintain accurate patient records and document visits in the Electronic Medical Record system
  • Compile patient history/medical records when necessary
  • Answer telephones, take messages, and respond to inquiries in a timely manner
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines regarding patient confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Medical Assistant Certification/Diploma preferred but not required
  • At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Basic computer knowledge (electronic medical record systems)
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
