Summary:

The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment (e.g. fillers, labelers) on the production lines in accordance with applicable standard operating procedures (SOP) and work instructions (WI).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates and maintains production equipment (e.g. fillers, labelers) according to established company standards.
  • Prepares and performs minor repairs and adjustments on equipment to maximize production runs.
  • Performs rinses and Clean-In-Place (CIP) washes and changeovers on equipment according to established standards.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate and timely documentation in accordance with applicable SOP’s and WI’s, including entry of finished goods into inventory utilizing SAP.
  • Assists Maintenance Mechanics with Preventative Maintenance (PM) on equipment.
  • Reports any equipment malfunctions or abnormal operations to the Maintenance Team and Line Leader.
  • Performs audits to ensure finished products meet quality specifications, label placement, and correct batch code.
  • Performs all work in a manner that is consistent with the company’s quality system and FDA good manufacturing practices, includes maintaining a clean and orderly production area at all times.
  • Follows and promotes KDC’s safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures.
  • Functions as a back-up to the Line Lead and trains other employees, as requested by management.
  • Completes SOPs, Work Instructions, and other paperwork according to established company policy.
  • Maintains confidentiality of customer information, product information and other sensitive and confidential information.
  • Exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as needed due to workplace demands. Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent degree is strongly preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of: FDA Good Manufacturing Practices and OSHA Safety Requirements; SAP; HMI.
  • Skill in: solving problems.
  • Ability to: read, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions including Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions; wear required PPE as needed (e.g. safety shoes, hair net, lab coat, protective eyewear); work as part of a team; develop and maintain good working relationships; manage time effectively; maintain a positive attitude.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds manually.
  • A climate-controlled production environment; the noise level is usually moderately loud.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time in front of production equipment, stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, crouch, talk, hear, push and pull
  • Exposure to frequent movement of motorized equipment throughout the facility, including electric pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.
