Job Description

Responsible for the management of the health services department, including, medical, dental, and mental health care of students; environment health; disability programs; and the Trainee Employee Assistance Program (TEAP), in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives.

  • Plans, coordinates, and directs the department’s administrative and wellness activities.
  • Provides nursing services within the scope of practice for state-specific nurse practice act.
  • Screens all medical and dental patients for the Center Physician, Dentist, Mental Health Consultant, vocational rehabilitation, and follow-up medical care.
  • Corresponds with customers, parents or guardians, and social services agencies, as applicable.
  •  Manages and conducts coordinated health care for students, including the pregnancy program, after-hours emergency care, family planning, TEAP, and other health-related programs; serves as the chair of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
  • Manages record-keeping and reports on injuries, diseases, and disabilities of students. Serves as student ECOMP Reporter.
  • Coordinates all phases of direct medical, dental, and mental health services for outpatients, inpatients, and off-center patients.
  • Manages in-service training in health-related areas for all center departments.
  • Supports the Safety Manager in planning and responding to environmental health inspections.
  • Evaluates staff, provides staff training, and implements departmental and personnel changes, as approved by the Center Director.
  • Develops and implements new and revised policies and procedures affecting health services.
  • Reviews applicant files weekly.
  • Coordinates the center disability program.
  • Serves as the Center Reproductive Health Coordinator and oversee the Center Family Planning Services.
  • Ensures Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) and other regulatory compliance.
  • Models, mentors, and monitors the positive normative culture on the center.
  • Acts as a responsible custodian for the assigned center property.
  • Reports violations of ethical behavior.
  • Suggests opportunities for continuous operational improvement and reduction of waste.
  • Identifies and reports environmental health and safety concerns.
  • Supervisors all department activities through effective planning, staff training, time management, scheduling, and review.
  • Manages departments resources and budget.
  • Screens potential new hires and make recommendations for hire.
  • Ensure data integrity and quality control through daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly audits.
  • Submits reports and plans in a timely manner.
  • Assesses personnel needs and works with the Human Resources department to screen and interview potential staff. Recommends promotions, transfers, and merit evaluations within the department. Conducts and prepares performance appraisals.
  • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
  • Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
  • Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
  • Fosters and sustains a conducive environment at the center, ensuring it remains free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, thereby ensuring a safe space for both staff and students to engage in work and learning.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Associate degree in nursing required.
  • Registered Nurse: active, unrestricted license to practice in the state where the center is located.
  • Two years related experience.
  • One year supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with diverse youth.
  • A valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record
