Job Description
Shift: PRN (As Needed)
Department: Animas Internal Medicine Medical Assistant
Job Summary
Provides direct care in accordance with Provider. Assesses plans, organizes, implements and evaluates all aspects of patient care for assigned patients.
Essential Job Functions
- Implements, evaluates and adjusts plan of care based on the expected patient outcome in concurrence of Provider.
- Continues ongoing assessment of patient and documents according to established guidelines; demonstrates appropriate application of age specific standards, policies and procedures and guidelines.
- Performs patient care duties, as needed, for proper care, including patients' vital signs and dressing or wounds
- Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge.
- Contributes to the ongoing assessment and plan of care for patients and charts objectively.
- Administers specified medication according to established procedures and notes time and amount on patients' charts.
- Collects specimens, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from patients for testing and may perform routine laboratory tests on samples.

Compensation: $18.75-$30.80 per hour

Minimum Requirements
Education: Graduate of an accredited vocational school of practical nursing or completion of medical assisting program, CMA preferred
Certifications: BLS
Licensure: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
Experience, Training, Knowledge: One (1) year recent experience in primary care setting.
Physical Requirements
Requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to fifty (50) pounds; stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; standing and walking more than five (5) hours per day; visual acuity in order to correctly distinguish skin tone variations, evidence of IV infiltration, infection, also to read telemetry, blood pressure gauges, etc.; audio acuity, in order to correctly distinguish various body sounds, i.e. respiration’s, heart sounds, bowel sounds, also to discern sounds made by various types of machinery or equipment which would indicate dangerous or improper operation.
Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures
Environmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, needle containers, sharps, blood, body fluids, various infectious/communicable diseases, infectious medical waste, radiation, and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste, proximity to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing/equipment may be necessary.
ASH IMMUNIZATIONS AND VACCINATIONS REQUIREMENTS– Aligns with CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for Healthcare Personnel
Hepatitis B- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals
Influenza- documentation of current seasonal flu vaccine (mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year)
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination
Varicella (chickenpox) - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine
Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) - documented proof of immunization
Tuberculosis Screening- Documentation of a two-step TB skin test within the past year OR lab verification of a negative TB Gold or T-Spot tuberculin test within the past 6 months
