Villari Food Group is seeking a Human Resource Generalist to serve one of its locations in Warsaw, NC.  Our rapidly growing organization will give you a chance to contribute your talents as we continue to expand which will no doubt provide a fulfilling opportunity for the right candidate. The ideal candidate would have a natural sense of ownership over the care of our most important asset, our people. An individual who speaks English as well as either Spanish or Haitian Creole (or all three) is highly desired.


Specific Job Duties:

  • Implements new hire orientation and employee engagement programs.
  • Proactively administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity and attendance; occupational health and safety; training and development; and employee recognition and engagement.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.  Coordinates with applicable parties (Security, Safety, Plant Leadership) to address such activities in a safe and proactive manner that reduces/limits distractions from business operations. 
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Responsible for unemployment hearings and appeals
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Create and maintain employee files.
  • May assist with recruiting, interviews, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; as a backup to the HR Manager, may collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files as needed.
  • On call for safety and HR emergencies on a rotating weekly basis (every fifth week, starting Monday at 8:00AM) Must remain within an hour travel time of the plant.  Must be available and ready to act in a manner consistent with being in the office (not under the influence of any substances, etc.) 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
 

Education and/or Experience :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years progressive Human Resources experience in a manufacturing facility can be considered in lieu of higher education 
  • SHRM-CP preferred 


Language:

Ability to read and interpret documents and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in both a group setting and one on one conversation. Ability to train policies of safety & regulatory requirements. Ability to fluently speak, read, & write a language in addition to English preferred (Spanish/Haitian Creole highly desired).


Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
 

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management system.
     

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department of the organization’s facilities.
