CLO Reporter

9fin is seeking a reporter to join our US team covering the CLO market

We’re looking for a journalist with a track record of breaking news, who will relish the opportunity to delve into all of the fascinating stories in the growing CLO market across issuance, the secondary market, performance, regulation and people moves.

Technology has revolutionized equity markets with electronic trading, quant algos and instantaneous news. However, in debt capital markets, the picture is completely different. It still behaves like it’s in the 1980s; trillions of dollars of trades are placed over the phone, news is slow, and corporate credit information is imperfect and scattered.

Every day is different, but here’s an example of the kind of things you’ll work on:

• Breaking news — You’ll be part of team that regularly breaks stories on what’s going on in CLOs, from firm acquisitions all the way through to market moving people moves.
• Feature-writing — You’ll know how to write longer-form articles that connect the dots between daily news and broader market trends
• Generating ideas — You’ll provide a consistent stream of new ideas, whether that’s identifying unique trends in the primary and secondary market, or thinking up new ways to
• Presenting skills — You’ll be given the opportunity to hone your skills in alternative media platforms like podcasts, moderating panels at conferences and live webinars

• Organized — Able to maintain a deep network of sources, as well as story pipeline and deadlines
• Communicative — Clear and concise in your written and verbal language, and able to explain complex ideas in simple terms
• Judicious — Committed to providing detailed and accurate information, and able to strike the right balance between urgency and perfection
• Driven — Endlessly curious, self-motivated, and passionate about doing a good job

• $90,000-$140,000 (this is a wide range; where you land will depend on seniority and experience)
