Structured Cabling Apprentice

Merit Technologies is looking for an entry-level Full-Time Structured Cabling Apprentice who will provide management of daily activities using their technical resources to meet the operational needs of the company. Experience is not a requirement for this position. We are looking for candidates who want a career in Structured Cabling and are eager to learn. As a structured cable apprentice, youll be part of a dynamic and diverse team that will provide high-level support. This includes a variety of responsibilities. In this role, you will test equipment, provide service management and implementation, technical support, maintenance, etc. You will plan, design, and implement network and system engineering plans of moderate scope and complexity. As an apprentice, you will identify and develop requirements for provisioning, inventory, projects, and need assessments. Requirements

• Working under a tech to complete daily tasks
• Responding to incident tickets to resolve issues in the Data Centers or NCCs
• Complete change tasks assigned to the Data Center team.
• Working and completing structured cabling/ passive infrastructure jobs
• Complete project tasks
• Troubleshooting connection issues
• Assist with project implementation activities
• Installing, moving, and removing devices
• Managing inventory
• Installing, testing, moving, labeling, and removing copper and fiber cabling
• Generating reports
• Submit all necessary access requests for the DCSP personal
• Provide access to the ITSM and CMDB management tools
• Provide process documentation handle on training and mentoring to the DCSP personnel at the beginning of the contract
• Perform quality checks of work performed
• Provide feedback on work prioritization

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent education
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure
