About The Job

Dudek is seeking an experienced environmental analyst/planner to assist with technical writing for the evaluation of impact to aesthetics/visual resources. As an aesthetics/visual resources specialist, you will work directly with Dudek’s visual resources lead on analyses and technical reports prepared for development projects subject to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). In this role, you will work collaboratively with the internal Dudek team (including staff from GIS, Photosimulations/3D design, CEQA Project Managers, etc.), clients, and the client’s subject matter expert in visual resources (if applicable) in the development of thoughtful and thorough analyses and evaluations of development impacts on views and visual character. In addition to environmental document and report preparation, this role will require occasional site visits to assess and photo document existing conditions and to strengthen understanding of existing view corridors, view quality, and landscape character.

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, environmental science, landscape architecture, or other related field applicable to visual impact assessment.
  • Demonstrated organizational development, leadership, and mentoring
  • A minimum of four (4) years of direct experience in environmental planning with exposure to visual impact assessments of large-scale infrastructure projects such as solar, wind and transmission lines.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently as an office or hybrid employee.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical writing to support the development of environmental permitting documents for CEQA, NEPA and state and local permitting relate to visual resources.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to take a logical approach to tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with local, state, and federal agencies; understanding of local and federal agency visual resource guidelines, format requirements, programs, and policy.
  • Experience conducting visual impact assessments for renewable energy, transmission, and transportation projects.
  • Experience applying Bureau of Land Management Visual Resource Management techniques or other applicable methodologies to projects on federal and private lands.
  • Experience interpreting and critiquing visual simulations.
  • BLM Visual Resource Training
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment

Proposed Salary Range: $79,000 - $95,000 annually*

*Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
