FUNCTION:

The Maintenance Engineer role at the Huntingdon facility is responsible for ensuring that industrial machinery and all other plant equipment runs smoothly and reliably. They deal with breakdowns, troubleshooting, and inspection of equipment. Typical duties include planning and carrying out scheduled maintenance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises entire plant facilities and technical maintenance hourly crews.
  • The role of the Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for all maintenance and repairs on-site, to ensure our day-day operations continue to run smoothly.
  • Manages the maintenance budget for the facility including running and reviewing reports and maintaining a spreadsheet of YTD expenditures.
  • Utilizes systems to track maintenance key performance measures, including mechanical/electrical downtime, maintenance reliability indices, maintenance breakdowns, etc.
  • Communicate regularly with production leadership and plan and prioritize projects and garner leadership support of these activities.
  • Responsible for planning of maintenance projects including scheduling of personnel (employees and contractors), maintaining project budget, accessing machine manuals, ensuring needed parts are in inventory, working with production team to schedule time and ensuring work orders are in the system, updated and completed throughout the project.
  • Schedule predictive/preventative maintenance activities to keep all equipment in good working order.
  • Comply with all necessary Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives in the facility including air permitting, storm water compliance, HAZMAT, wastewater, fire & safety system, inspections, contractor training, employee training, electrical, hot work, etc.
  • Ensuring the inventory/parts management of the facility’s storeroom, including maintenance of inventory levels, organization, and required parts to keep on hand.
  • Assist engineering team to help plant operate at its peak efficiency.
  • Assist engineering team as needed in the development and management of capital projects, systems, and equipment.

BACKROUND AND RELATED SKILLS:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience producing quantifiable savings in manufacturing.
  • Lean experience with Six Sigma preferred.
  • Requires the ability to work independently with very limited supervision.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the company.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Firm understanding of continuous improvement and root cause analysis.
