What You Will Do:

  • Monitors & directs daily operations of the coding/charge capture department to ensure that established policies, procedures, and protocols are followed.
  • Plans and develops processes and or procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the department while meeting audit and QA standards. Analyzes data and makes recommendations for changes.
  • Develops and monitors statistical reports to enhance outcomes, forecasting, and operational efficiency.
  • Interprets organizational policies, procedures and administration decisions so mutual understanding is reached at the staff level.
  • Participates on various committees, department, and other appropriate meetings related to department and/or MSO issues.
  • Monitors projects, budgets, etc. ensuring all mandates are executed appropriately.
  • Educate physicians and/or liaisons when coding changes and or other issues are identified that pertain to documentation and/or coding.
  • Advises client Executive Director on pertinent issues.
  • Ensures accuracy of data.
  • Analyzes data, monitors, and makes recommendations for changes and implements plans to improve department activity.
  • Lends expertise to internal teams and task forces; participates in planning (strategic, business, project, staffing, etc.) and project management.
  • Organizes and facilitates meetings to disseminate information and/or to obtain input.
  • Determine organization’s systems, processes, and structures to reach goals and objectives effectively and efficiently.
  • Works directly with corporate leadership.


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 12 years of direct work experience. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or a comparable coding certification (e.g., AHIMA CCS-P)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Work as a member of a team as well as be a self-motivator with ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment while producing high-quality work.
  • Broad knowledge of major operating systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
