Position Summary:

Performs and completes radiographic studies as requested to assist physicians in diagnosis of injury or pathology.
Incorporates knowledge of technical functions to provide optional studies while protecting the patient and self from excessive radiation exposure.
Administers oral and IV contrast media as needed.
Works extensively in OR setting with potential for higher radiation exposure.

Essential Functions:

Performs radiographic procedures in a competent and knowledgeable manner

Administers contrast media as required for certain exams with approval of a physician

Assists physicians in performance in OR setting

Maintains a safe and orderly environment for self, other personnel and patients

Provides age appropriate care to all patients.

Assists in the education of students as required

Provides educational training to other technologists in OR/C-Arm operations.

Assists in room set up for spinal cases.

Test C-Arm prior to cases to make sure unit is operational before surgery begins.

Prepares studies preferably one day prior to OR procedures for physicians

Responsible for assisting the accurate positioning for all patients

Reports to: Radiology Supervisor

Minimum Education
Graduate of a school of Radiologic Technology Required

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Ability to lift and move heavy objects and cope with acutely ill patients.
Must be able to take call on a rotating basis.

Required Skills
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 30 days

Minimum Work Experience
Minimum 2+ years of experience in OR setting.

Required Licenses
[West Virginia, United States] Radiologic Technologist and Technician
ARRT registered with WV licensure.
