Job Summary

This position, under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, assists in the procurement, storage, preparation, distribution, and delivery of medications and other pharmaceutical products to Frye Regional Medical Center patients in a timely and accurate fashion and in accordance with established regulations and procedures.

 

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers.

 

Essential Functions

  • Assists pharmacist(s) in filling medication orders
  • Preparing medications and supplies for dispensing, including:
    • Repackaging bulk medications
    • Compounding ointments and creams, oral solutions, and other medications
  • Delivers medications to patient care areas and retrieves pharmacy related items
  • Accurately restocks automated dispensing cabinets according to inventory levels
  • Charges and credits patient profiles for medications used or returned to the pharmacy
  • Assists with inventory management by stocking fluids and medications on shelves
  • Inspects assigned out of date sections and/or nursing units or operating rooms on a monthly basis
  • Answering phone calls and handling questions that do not require pharmacist expertise or judgment and routing calls to the appropriate party as necessary
  • Maintains compliance and understanding of Compounding Sterile Products Policy and USP
  • Prepares IVs, PCAs, Epidurals in accordance with CSP Policy and USP
  • Assists with training and orientation of new teammates to department workflow and procedures

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
  • Registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP) within 30 days of hire

Minimum Work Experience

0-3 years of hospital pharmacy experience
