ACCOUNTABILITIES

*All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise*

1. Anticipates and prepares the patient, clinical equipment, and supplies for the visit.

2. Prepares the patient for the visit by gathering base line data from the patient, documenting reasons for the visit and obtaining vitals/office testing.

3. Accurately obtains vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure). Understands normal vital signs, and reports variations, if present.

4. Medication reconciliation, pill counts, and fill meds as ordered by the providers. Assists with injections in the office and goes with the physician to the OR for procedures.

5. Collects routine specimens when necessary.

6. Narcotic agreement as needed.

7. Observes, reports, and records patient appearance and condition. Understands physical, emotional, and mental changes in patient condition, and reports appropriately. Provides one-to-one care as assigned. Documents appropriately, in the medical record. Uses correct forms, as well as appropriate terminology and abbreviations. Documents care given and signs appropriately.

8. Demonstrates knowledge of routine patient supplies and equipment. Safely utilizes equipment to assist in patient needs and care delivery. Obtains supplies and equipment from other departments, as requested. Cleans and returns equipment to proper locations or departments.

9. Maintains clean and neat patient beds and rooms and unit areas. Maintains safe and comfortable patient environment.

10. Provides excellent patient service by documenting information accurately, promptly, and legibly in order to meet regulatory requirements. Utilizes medical charts, forms, practice management systems and all forms of electronic communication efficiently.

11. Demonstrates clinical knowledge and focuses on customer service to answer and triage patient telephone calls. Records complete and accurate messages and obtains necessary instructions from providers and nurses, etc. when appropriate.

12. Communicates professionally with patients, providers, and co-workers at all times.

13. Provides for a safe patient experience through adherence to clinical protocols, regulatory requirements, manufacturer standards and reports any potential equipment malfunctions or safety violations.

14. Supports internal and external customers, to maintain a superior customer experience across the continuum of care through teamwork.

15. Demonstrates stewardship of practice finances through efficient utilization of practice resources such as medical supplies, office supplies and time management.

16. Actively participates and is engaged in staff meetings.

17. Performs other duties as assigned that support core values.

18. Population Specific Competencies:

a. Registration, Scheduling, Billing

b. Check in check out knowledge

c. Coordinate schedules with surgery

d. Be able to perform and or assist in Urine collections, cleaning equipment, ordering supplies etc.

e. Assist with wound vacs, wound dressings

f. Vital signs


Education: High School graduate or its equivalent. Completion of a recognized MA program at an accredited college or university or possess equivalent experience.

Skills: Requires working knowledge of medical terminology. Must demonstrate basic computer skills. Able to promote a strong commitment towards achieving outstanding internal and external customer satisfaction and superior patient experience. Ability to pass competencies of the position. Concern for patient care. Preference for work with people. Ability to tolerate physical and mental stresses and retain emotional stability in variable situations. Must have an even temperament and pleasant personality. Must be able to understand directions (written and verbal), communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to demonstrate good judgment in a fast-paced environment.

Certification: Anyone hired after 1/1/2020, if not certified at time of hire, you must pass the certification test within 12 months of date of hire into the position. CPR/AED certified.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands: Good health, the ability to lift patients, manage equipment, and walk distances. Must be able to occasionally push or lift medium to heavy equipment, supplies and patients. Must be able to move about the practice/department and between workstations. Work is inside and of medium demand.
