HB Staffing is seeking an Accountant to join a growing and dynamic team to perform maintenance, analysis, interpretation, and management of financial and accounting data.

Responsibilities include accounting skills in preparation and posting of various journals, ledgers, and accounts; analysis and presentation of financial data and statements; analyzing contract requirements and processing invoices for payment; analyzing budget requirements; allocation of funds to various accounts or functions; and other complex accounting activities.

Job Description:

• Manages housing projects and capital fund programs. Reconciles the funds to the general ledger on a monthly basis
• Generates reimbursement of capital expense and reconciliation of asset accounts, capital accounts, and project accounts
• Monthly and quarterly reconciliation of inter-funds and cash management for asset and development projects
• Identifies and reports the assets, establishes a fixed asset depreciation schedule and reconciles annually with accounting team on inter funds
• Utilizes GAAP accounting accrual methods; reviews, monitors, and balances general ledger accounts, cash receipts, and transactions for HUD funds; documents and tracks trial balances and transaction reports; prepares monthly journal entries; records earned income to equity accounts and make adjustments as needed
• Prepares grant reimbursement requests and grant reports; retrieves financial data; reviews accounting data to identify the grants that require submission of reimbursement requests
• Processes adjusting entries to ensure quality of coding and to ensure proper statement of the accrual accounts. Follows HUD and GAAP guidelines in an accrual reporting format
• Reviews and revises current grant financial management procedures and policies as conditions change; works closely with the finance managers to resolve accounting issues and to recommend and implement new accounting procedures to improve quality of the general ledger
• Oversees year-end process; closes out revenues and expense accounts at year-end and prepares year-end reports
• Prepares journal entries to correct differences between general ledger control accounts and subsidiary accounts
• Other related duties as needed

 

Position Requirements:

• Must be willing to consent to a background check and drug screen
• Ability to review, analyze, record and document a diverse range of financial transactions to support general ledger duties
• Ability to analyze and monitor grant funding program financial transactions and ensure compliance with funding requirements
• Knowledge of modern principles, practices, and methods of public and governmental accounting and financing, including program budgeting, general accounting, and auditing and their application to Authority operations
• Knowledge of Principles and practices of fund accounting
