Job Description
Job Summary
The Drone Technology Teacher would teach two, two-hour sessions for 180 days to approximately 35 students. Additional days/time are compensated at the teacher’s daily rate of pay. This rigorous training program is designed for students committed to a career in drone technology and aerial photography fields.
Personal Qualities
The person hired will need to be creative, but organized and be able to develop instructional programs based on engaging students, maximizing learning, and providing authentic assessments.
Duties
· Demonstrate and instruct students in basic flight of drones to include manual flight and flight mapping software leading to the attainment of FAA CFR 14 Part 107 certificate leading to commercial pilot in the drone industry.
· Develop and implement instructional plans and activities in troubleshooting drone hardware, drone flight regulations and industry operations, and applications for manual and autonomous flight as well as understanding drone mapping software.
· Develop relationships with local industry partners to support entrepreneurship, fleet management, and drone mapping.
· Create and plan effective curriculum-based projects and activities correlated with drone industry pilot certifications and FAA guidelines as supported by the course materials.
· Perform routine maintenance of equipment and tools used in the program.
· Manage inventory control including purchasing materials, supplies, equipment, and tools.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of drone industry, drone flight, and flight mapping software as utilized in commercial applications.
- Up-to-date knowledge and technical skills required to operate and fly drones in industry applications.
- Knowledge of drone flight maintenance and management.
- Knowledge of and skill in the use of database, Internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications.
Job Requirements
- UAS remote pilot industry licensure and 3 years work experience in a related field
- Preferred: Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Preferred: Experience supervising and teaching high school youth
- Eligible for secondary teaching certificate
Full-Time Salary
Salary range from $52,500 to $80,432 dependent on experience.
