Klamath Orthopedic Clinic is looking for Full and Part-time MRI Technicians



Summary: The MRI Technician, under direct supervision, Produces detailed tissue images for medical diagnosis by performing a variety of magnetic resonance imaging procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform MRI procedures at a tech level in accordance with protocols and policies.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and medical terminology.
  • Must have knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to MRI exams and equipment.
  • Properly position patients to provide quality imaging.
  • Provide clear instructions and appropriately prepare patients for MRI examinations.
  • Operate MRI equipment to produce images of designated portions of the body.
  • Establish intravenous access and administer intravenous contrast for MRI exams.
  • Demonstrate understanding of MRI applications.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Search patient charts, histories and prior imaging exams for potential contraindications to MRI.
  • Gather MRI implant safety information and manufacturer’s guidelines for scanning implants to present for review to lead technologist.
  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms.
  • Order, inventory and re-stock department supplies.
  • Follow infection control and safety guidelines.
  • Must be able to work extended hours when necessary, including evenings and weekends.

  • Safety and Security – Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Candidate must pass urine analysis and criminal background check.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Radiology program required.

Certification/Licensure:

  • National registration in Magnetic Resonance with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification for Health Care Providers,
  • Minimum (2) years’ experience in MRI.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to patients, physicians, manager of department, etc.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Computer Skills:

Knowledge of modern office equipment, systems and procedures, including computer skills and type efficiently; an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software; Order processing systems; Knowledge of medical software is a plus.

Work Environment:

This is a fast paced environment.

The MRI Technologist must understand and accept the possibility of exposure to inside environmental conditions, such as radiation, noise, infectious/communicable diseases, blood and blood-borne diseases, chemicals and/or chemical fumes, odors, gases and dusts. Frequent exposures to distressed patients, families or visitors.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:

Requires frequent lifting and moving patients 100 to 300 lbs pounds with/without assistance. Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with medium to heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
