Job Title: Production Supervision Internship

Reports To: Director of Operations

Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Anticipated projects/work to be completed:

• Observe and learn product flow from start to finish, including wastewater plant.
• Learn and understand Critical Control Points in the cheese and whey plant
• Observe and learn the general day to day operations of a cheese production facility including wastewater plant
• Become familiar with procedures and SOPs on the production floor
• Learn to work with a unionized work force, including coaching, communicating and scheduling of employees.
• Participate in inspections & audits by 3rd parties when they occur as an observer only unless directed by QA to engage in conversation.
• Engage in community outreach events such as Cheese Curd Festival, dairy breakfasts, etc.

Expected outcomes/key learnings:

• Understand, create and present the product flow from start to finish to Management and answer questions.
• Observe and understand the cheese make process as well as general knowledge of whey processing.
• Generate Maintenance Work Requests and communicate other needs to teams and other Departments as needed.
• Cover floor duties and run a supervisory shift independently.
• Evaluate and make determinations on product outcome (diversions or alternate direction).
• Further develop interpersonal skills relating to dealing with a wide range of individuals from different departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Pursuing degree in Food Science/Processing, Junior or Senior standing

Schedule/Duration of Internship

• Summer: Mid-May through August, 40 hours per week

*Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization. F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who will require H-1B status, TNs, or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered. H1-B and green card sponsorship is not available for this position.
