Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day account management, including but not limited to, ensuring correct completion of policies/endorsements processing, invoicing, claims reporting, resolution, and follow up as needed, premium breakdowns, auto ID cards, policy changes, review of policy forms, providing coverage comparisons, loss analysis and responding to coverage questions
  • Maintain strong relationships with carrier partners to provide a benefit to the department, as it relates to optimizing products and services
  • Identify, design, and implement service, marketing and sales strategies for continued growth of the department inclusive of opportunities to cross sell and round out coverage
  • Pre-qualify prospective new business opportunities and collect necessary information for quoting purposes. Recommends coverages and prepares quotes/proposals to sell new accounts
  • Determine acceptability and placement of coverage and collect premium payments when applicable
  • Conduct policy reviews with existing clients and makes recommendations that align with the client’s objectives and agency operating procedures.
  • Processes renewals and remarkets insurance, as needed
  • Maintains orderly electronic files and documentation in agency management system (Applied TAM)
  • Prepare billing following agency’s credit and collections policies
  • Educates clients about coverage definitions, terms, conditions, and exclusions
  • Communicate new opportunities, trends, and carrier information to all members of the team

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and work under pressure at times; team player
  • Identify areas of opportunities and develop strategies for improvement within the department
  • Keeps informed regarding industry information, new product information, coverages, and technology to continuously improve knowledge and stay current
  • Interacts with others effectively by utilizing good communications skills, cooperates positively and provides information and guidance, as needed, to contribute to the business efforts of the agency
  • Excels in a team atmosphere and collaborative work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 2+ years of account management or like/portable insurance experience (preferred).
  • Active VA resident or non-resident property & casualty insurance license (preferred).
