Marley Engineered Products is a marketplace leader in innovative comfort heating and ventilation solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial markets. With a portfolio that includes baseboard, wall, unit and infrared heaters as well as ceiling fans and air circulators, we create simplified heating solutions for our complex world.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Reliability & Project Engineer you will identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. The role of the Reliability engineer is to utilize engineering practices to drive out sources of repetitive failure in equipment, infrastructure and processes and to support Capital projects for new assets and modifications.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Equipment and Facility Reliability
  • Developing Strategies to improve equipment reliability.
  • Develops various analytical methods for determining reliability of components, equipment and processes.
  • Routinely auditing reliability program result to ensure enhanced life of equipment and reduce maintenance repairs and costs.
  • Redesign machinery and / or processes to improve plant reliability and lower operating costs.
  • Develop and Implement strategies to improve infrastructure reliability to include electrical, fire suppression, HVAC, gas fired systems, boilers and air compressors.
  • Conduct and coordinate failure investigations, including analyzing failure mechanisms and implementing solutions to improve reliability, quality, safety, and financial performance.
  1. Projects
  • Involved in design, approval and installation stages of Capital projects for new assets and modification of existing assets.
  • Develop capital appropriation requests (E201) with supporting EVA calculations as well as project management leadership.
  • Coordinate a variety of projects from inception through completion and follow-up with minimal direction.
  • Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arranges for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  1. Technical Support
  • Support maintenance team as subject matter expert.
  • Offering technical support to other departments on equipment and reliability issues
  • Managing KPIs to track efficiency and analyze plant downtime, quality, safety, and financial data to identify areas of focus for the maintenance and operations teams:
  • Analyze reports and data collected to determine and recommend changes in methods, tooling, and/or equipment to more fully utilize workforce and time to increase productivity, quality, or product value.

4. Continuous Improvement

  • Support and expand Lean culture and implementation throughout the plant.
  • Work closely with leadership and associates to determine feasibility of improvements/projects and provide data or information for accurate decisions.
  • Complete time studies and data development for rates, line balancing and cost estimates
  • Develop and implement standard work instructions.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • 3-5 years an engineering role
  • Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects varying in scope and complexity.
  • Experience working with cross functional teams.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong grasp of preventive and predictive maintenance systems and fixed time maintenance strategies
  • Thorough understanding of precision alignment and vibration analysis
  • Experience working in an Assembly and/or Sheet Metal Fabrication manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in One-piece flow: balancing, pacing and improved Experience with designing and implementing machine/assembly cells and factory layouts through-put, Visual factory; KPIs, and pacing boards.
  • Solid foundation/understanding of manufacturing financial metrics - working capital, Raw/WIP/FGI inventory, inventory turns, productivity, efficiency, order fill rate, on-time delivery, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in supporting infrastructure to include electrical, fire suppression, HVAC, gas fired systems, boilers and air compressors.
  • Must have Strong computer skills with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications. Able to develop summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports using PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles
  • Demonstrates strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Experience with design-for-manufacturing methods.
  • Ability to direct, mentor, train, operators, and others in a team-based environment.
  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy required.
  • Strong communication and team building skills.
  • Exceptional Analytical Skills
  • Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Problems solving and data analysis skills (8D, 5Y, statistics, etc.)

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing in Engineering or related field (strongly preferred)

Travel & Working Environment

  • Minimal travel (<10%) that includes visits to other facilities, vendors and training.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Manufacturing Environment frequently require use of foot, eye and ear protection when in production areas.
