As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineering professionals, you will design, analyze, and test avionics enclosures for electronic components on various spacecrafts. This opportunity reports to the Spacecraft Avionics section inside of the Space Mobility business unit.  As part of a growing, hardworking, and curious team of design engineers, you’ll be deployed to programs that shape the future of Blue Origin. To be successful in this role you will need to be able to function in a cross disciplinary team and a dynamic design environment.  You need to support electronics development and trade studies, and create interface definition, specification, and control documents.  You must be able to validate requirements through design, test, analysis, or inspection.  You will need to plan and conduct tests, review and interpret data. You must be able to create assembly and/or installation drawings and support hardware builds. As an Avionics Mechanical Design & Analysis Engineer, you will design avionics enclosure solutions for high reliability in harsh environments.  You will participate in the entire design cycle of flight and mission critical avionics.  You will work with the electrical engineering team to design rugged printed circuit board systems.  You will complete thermal and structural analyses of these designs.  You will create engineering drawings and manage the product configuration of the integrated designs through the product lifecycle.  You will create test plans and manage testing and qualification of the product. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!Qualifications:Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electro-mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related technical subject area5+ years of experience with design of electro-mechanical avionics assemblies, static structural, modal, random vibration, and thermal analysis (level commensurate on experience) Experience with Steinberg or Engelmeier Solder fatigue Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS preferred) Working knowledge of 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred) Experience with GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5) Experience designing ruggedized electronics enclosures or similar high-performance hardware.Experience in electromechanical design of avionics enclosures, PCBA integration (ECAD/MCAD), trace sizing and manufacturing. EMI, thermal and structural protection of electronic components.Experience in bonding and grounding of electrical components and sealing and venting of enclosures.Experience in PCBA connector selection, interconnects, power and data isolation, contacts and soldering.Knowledge on avionics reliability mitigations.Thermal and Structural analysis of avionics enclosures and PCBA components.Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one time. Ability to communicate analysis results effectively. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired:Experience with recent versions of Creo, Windchill, ANSYS, ICEPAK, and Sherlock Experience with fatigue analysis and fracture mechanics (hand calcs, NASGRO, VCCT, etc.) Familiarity with aerospace industry standard structural analysis methods (Bruhn, Marks’, Shigley, Steinberg, Roark’s) Familiarity with environmental testing similar to SMC-S-016, DO-160, and/or MIL-STD-810. Familiarity with circuit card design per IPC-A-610 and/or J standards Familiarity with harness design per IPC-A-620 Compensation range for on site CO applicants is $125,400 - $183,920Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $136,800 - $200,640Compensation range for on site CA applicants is $136,800 - $200,640Other site ranges may differ Inclusivity StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
