QUALIFICATIONS:

The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and overseeing the physical property, housekeeping, custodial, laundry, inventory in keeping with the mission, vision, and values of Marimn Health. Working knowledge or willingness to learn of housekeeping/custodial procedures including equipment and chemical use required. High standards of cleanliness and sanitation are a must. At least four years of experience as supervisor/manager role; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as housekeeping, custodial or facility duties is required. Knowledge of receiving and distribution protocols of freight required. Prior experience in a health care facility is a plus. Must have willingness to learn required skills. A valid driver’s license and high school diploma or GED are required. The position requires flexibility in working hours (including weekend time and early mornings) and a willingness to carry out all needed housekeeping, custodial, and receiving duties in a consistent and ongoing manner.

ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Hearing: within normal limits with or without use of corrective hearing devices.
  • Vision: adequate to read 12-point type with or without use of corrective lenses.
  • Must be able to verbally interact with staff, clients and the public.
  • Manual dexterity of hands/fingers for cleaning and maintenance work.
  • Able to bend, stoop, lift, and carry objects weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Able to climb ladders, balance, kneel, and crouch to make repairs.
  • Able to be exposed to small, confined and/or dark spaces, elevated temperatures, and to outside weather conditions.
  • Able to withstand repetitive motions such as mopping, painting, hammering, etc.
  • Standing/walking up to 90% of the shift.
  • Sitting 10% of the shift.
  • Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs.
  • Able to work on flat roofs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Environmental Service Tech (EST) staff, including scheduling, ensuring shift duties are complete, schedules, time off/PTO requests, training, quality control.
  • Fills in and covers responsibilities of absent staff if necessary.
  • Oversee shipping and receiving operations.
  • Keeps Facilities Director up to date regarding facility and staff.
  • Provides effective leadership to department staff through coaching, guidance, and constructive communication practices.
  • Conducts EST staff evaluations and manages personnel issues in conjunction with Human Resources Department and Facilities Director as needed.
  • Manages receiving and distribution of freight items delivered to Marimn Health facilities in a timely manner – to include completion of required documentation.
  • Supports Snow removal and exterior grounds maintenance as necessary.
  • Communicates and problem solves with Management with tasks or deadlines that will not be met.
  • Communicates in an effective and timely manner when called for assistance by Marimn Health staff.
  • Safely uses equipment and instructs, trains, or otherwise ensures all EST staff are trained to do the same.
  • Accomplishes necessary paperwork as required – including ordering and maintaining an appropriate level of custodial, housekeeping, facility supplies.
  • Follows and maintains compliance with regards to organization policy and procedure, including the dress code.
  • Creates and follows checklists and schedules to ensure quality completion (modifying for improvements when necessary).
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget and reports.
  • Participate in management, staff and internal or external professional committees.
  • Use work order system
  • Willing to help wherever necessary and communicate when routine work is affected.
  • Completes work routines with a quality and completion review of at least 90%.
  • Responds to work assignments in a professional and timely manner.
  • Responsibly follows proper cleaning techniques and chemical usage at 100%.
  • Responds and/or coordinates response to requests for emergency assistance, i.e. patient emesis situation.
  • Maintains an exemplary customer service attitude both internally and externally.
  • Follow work duty hours and break times with clear communication to the EST staff regarding any changes.
  • Must follow all safety, infection control and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and enforce compliance across entire EST team.
  • Responsible for ensuring all procedural standards are followed to ensure that a safe environment is maintained, machine capacities are not exceeded, and that tools are properly and safely used. The use of chemical products must follow protocol including labeling, usage, storage, and cleanup.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
