Desert Highlands Association/Golf Club is looking to grow their Accounting Team and make it even more awesome than it already is! In search of a Part Time Accounting Intern (20 - 24 hours) to assist our Staff Accountant and CFO. Must have a can-do attitude, great customer service skills, and a desire to learn and expand their accounting knowledge. Background working in a hospitality environment a plus!
Primary Purpose
Supporting the accounting department, and management team by completing routine clerical and accounting tasks including but not limited to accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Must have a can-do attitude, great customer service skills, enjoy face to face interactions and phone interactions, good computer skills and communication skills.
Requirements
Essential Functions:
1. Accounts Receivable:
Update daily revenue batches, prepare deposits for cash sales and take deposits to the bank
Apply payments to Member accounts through the different payment options provided
Process monthly billings and send out monthly statements
Coordinate the resolution of Member disputes with the appropriate department manager and the Member
Manage the collection of delinquent accounts
Manage the setup and payment of all non-member and employee accounts
2. Accounts Payable:
Ensure that all invoices are delivered to the appropriate manager for coding and approval to process
Enter all invoices through the accounting software
Process invoices for payment
Audit invoices for proper coding
Reconcile vendor statements and work with managers on past-due invoices
3. General Functions
Able to meet deadlines and is flexible on working on multiple projects simultaneously
Takes direction and works effectively with others
Promotes the overall Association through a sense of community and service, providing friendly, helpful service and displaying a positive attitude
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent of education and work experience in accounting.
Present a positive, professional image.
Must be self-motivated and customer service oriented.
Strong interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and database programs. Must be functional with accounting software and internet processes.
Reliable and predictable attendance.
Ability to work with general office equipment such as a personal computer and keyboard, facsimile machines and photocopier.
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
Preferred:
Two years accounting-related experience in a private club or hotel environment.
Associate degree in Accounting or currently working on degree in Accounting
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Position is in an administrative office in a private residential community in N. Scottsdale.
The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.
The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
