GENERAL SUMMARY:
A Mortgage Loan Originator I (MLO) provides professional financial services to the public exclusively related to financing the purchase of residential real property and the refinancing of existing mortgages secured by residential real property. MLO's are responsible for development and management of first mortgage product offerings at the branch as well as with existing and potential customer referral sources. MLO's work closely with the Marketing Department, Loan Department and Branch personnel to market first mortgage products in branch as well as at various networking events (luncheons, workshops, employment benefit fairs, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
* Associates Degree or equivalent
* Three (3) years financial institution experience
o To include one (1) year experience with FHA, VA or HELOC

Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
* Must possess a complete understanding of mortgage products
* Must have a working knowledge of credit reports, DTI, LTV, and CLTV ratios
* Consummate knowledge and application of all mortgage regulations
* Must be sales oriented, possess good interpersonal and communication skills
* Must have strong desire to succeed and work well with others
* Must have strong member service and sales skills
* Ability to take accurate and thorough loan applications with attention to detail
* Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT:
This is a sales position that often involves working outside the office to represent the credit union at business development functions and community events; visiting the offices of customer referral sources; and meeting with loan applicants at a location convenient for them. No heavy lifting required. May require the employee to sit at a desk for extended periods of time.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must comply with all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act and SAFE Act. Must be able to obtain license through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS).

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES AND TASKS:

Outside Marketing

1. Establish, develop and maintain referral network of real estate agents, builders, and other professionals who can provide on-going source of business referrals.

2. Make sales calls on potential or existing customers in order to develop new business and/or retain existing business.

3. Develop and manage first mortgage marketing plan for assigned branches, if applicable.

4. Monitor sales reports to ensure that qualified leads and sales goals are met.

5. Participates in networking events and outside marketing opportunities.

6. Keeps informed of trends, competitors, changes and developments in the local real estate market to assist the management team with marketing ideas and plans to enhance First Mortgage product offerings.

Development/Performance/Support

7. Manages pipeline for all originated loans through closing to ensure that personal sales goals are met.

8. Maintains up to date working knowledge of rules, regulations and guidelines from FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, and VA in addition to other investors and agencies

9. Communicates with branches, if applicable, applicants, and realtors, providing timely updates and status reports with high levels of customer service.

10. Completes thorough and accurate loan applications; analyzes and prequalifies applicant information to determine viability of the client's desired loan program based upon the applicant's present situation, future plans, and preferred loan product.

11. Assists team with obtaining conditions from member as needed to meet requirements of loan approval.

12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary range is $18.74 - $24.60/hour. Job Grade, NE-9. Final salary is dependent on candidate's experience and qualifications.
