Job Description

 

We are looking for an Educational Programs Coordinator to gain experience in the conservation of a wide variety of library and archive objects as well as gain experience in the day-to-day operation of a library conservation lab. This position will be full-time contract and onsite. 

 

 

What You’ll Do 

  • Gain experience in the conservation of a wide variety of library and archive objects as well as gain experience in the day-to-day operation of a library conservation lab

  • Upon completion of the internship the student will have completed multiple complex treatments

  • Gain experience in other general lab duties such as box making, examination and reporting, photography of paper objects, condition reporting, and exhibits

  • Report to the Conservator and will work closely with other librarians and will collaborates with various departments from across the library

 

What You'll Need 

Required: 

  • Candidates must be enrolled in a recognized and accredited graduate conservation degree program

  • Self-motivated

  • Able to follow directions implicitly

  • Detail oriented

  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, masks, and other personal protective equipment

  • Must be able to write reports using Microsoft Word

  • Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken

 

 

Physical Demands 

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards 

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc. 

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
