JM Staffing is URGENTLY HIRING Cooks to join our team to assist our client in San Bernardino!

Shifts: Days

Rotating days off, must be flexible, must work weekends and holidays!!!

Compensation: 16.05-$18.05/hourly(can go up depending on candidates performance)

Location: San Bernardino

Duration: 720 hours (About 4.5 months) 

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform a variety of cooking duties including responsibility to monitor others in the preparation of meals.

1. Assist Cook II in preparing food for regular and special diets in large quantities including meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, soups, salads, desserts, bakery good and other foods.
2. Monitor the work of other food service personnel, ensuring quantity and quality of foods prepared and served; and that a high level of safety and sanitation is maintained throughout the food preparation process.
3. Preview menus and production tallies to determine type and quantities of meats, starches, vegetables, soups, salads and desserts to be obtained and prepared; make recommendation for menu substitution when foods specified are unavailable; test new products for possible inclusion in the cafeteria or patient services menu.
4. Plan and coordinate cooking schedules so that foods will be ready at required times.
5. Ensure that all food prepared meets existing standards for quality, freshness, taste and appearance; alert supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies; detect and report spoiled or unattractive food, or other unusual conditions.
6. Prepare, season, and cook foods following established recipes, measure and mix ingredients.
7. Use a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including grinder, slicer, mixer, blender, oven, grill, deep fat fryer, steamer and microwave.
8. Assist with the care and maintenance of department utensils and equipment.
9. Serve in cafeteria as directed.
10. Assist in receiving and storing of food and supplies.
11. Serve as a resource to the public.
12. Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess and maintain a valid Food Handler's card issued by the County of San Bernardino.
• Must be able to pass background check and drug test

--AND--

Experience: Twelve (12) months of experience preparing large quantities of food in an acute care hospital or large institution (such as a hotel, resort, school, or correctional facility).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Continuous standing. Frequent walking, bending, twisting, and turning. Occasional squatting, climbing, kneeling, balancing, and stooping. Requires power grasping, precision grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation in both hands. Reach or work continuously below shoulder level, and occasionally above shoulder level. Visual and auditory requirements: continuously demonstrate near vision and discern speech in quiet/noisy locations; frequently demonstrate far vision and color discrimination; occasionally locates origin of sounds and discerns non-speech sounds. Use sense of smell and/or touch to distinguish/identify odors/objects. Continuous lifting of 25lbs. or less; occasional lifting of 26 – 50 lbs.; continuous carrying of 10 lbs. or less; frequent carrying of 11 – 25 lbs.; and occasional carrying of 26-50 lbs. Carry items up to 5 feet, which includes heaviest item (50 lb.).
