Trystar’s team members are our most important asset, we are in search of a Punch Press Operator for our Fabrication Department. This position plays a critical role in achieving our strategic objectives. Trystar’s Punch Press Operator position is an important part of Trystar’s plan to become the world’s foremost custom solution provider.

The Punch Press Operator is a skilled professional responsible for operating punch press machines to produce precision components from various materials, such as sheet metal or fiber board. They play a critical role in the manufacturing process, ensuring accurate and efficient production of parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.

In this role you will get to:
  • Machine Setup: Prepare and set up the punch press machine by loading the appropriate tools, dies, and materials. Ensure the machine is properly calibrated and aligned for precise operation.
  • Programming: Create or load CNC programs into the machine's control system, specifying the dimensions, shapes, and hole patterns required for the specific sheet metal components.
  • Material Handling: Load and unload sheet metal or fiber board blanks onto the machine's worktable, ensuring proper positioning and alignment to avoid defects and waste.
  • Punching Operations: Operate the punch press machine to cut, shape, or form components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of finished parts to verify accuracy and quality, using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues that may arise during the production process, such as tool wear, material irregularities, or machine malfunctions.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on the punch press, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged tools and components. Perform routine maintenance on punch press tools, ensuring they are in good condition, sharpening or replacing them when necessary.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while operating the machine and ensure compliance with company and industry safety regulations.
  • Production Monitoring: Monitor the production process to maintain a steady workflow and promptly address any deviations or inefficiencies.
  • Documentation: Accurately record production data in Epicor, machine settings, and maintenance activities to maintain production records and assist in process improvement efforts. This also includes daily production reports, tally sheets, scrap reports, etc.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with other team members, including supervisors, engineers, and quality control personnel, to ensure smooth production flow and meet production targets.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have experience in machine operation or mechanical ability and aptitude to understand how manufacturing equipment works together in a line to produce high quality products.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical education or vocational training in machine operation is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a Punch Operator or in a similar role is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend plant directives written in English.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Perform simple mathematics to comprehend and interpret process sheets, SOP manuals, tally sheets, etc. and to keep accurate account of materials used during manufacturing process including scrap amounts.
  • Physical strength sufficient to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis.
  • Frequent lifting, standing, bending & reaching required.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
  • Must adhere to all the PPE requirements to perform the job safely, this includes but is not limited to, Eye, Hand, Feet, and Hearing protection.
