As the Benefits Manager, you will work primarily out of our Corporate Office located in the McCormick Ranch neighborhood of Scottdale, Arizona. You will travel as needed to our various communities and throughout the Phoenix valley.

You're Excited About This Role Because You Will:

Benefits Program Development and Design:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and HR team to assess current benefits offerings and identify areas for improvement or expansion.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new benefit programs, enhancements, or modifications to meet the evolving needs of employees and the organization.
  • Design benefit plans, including health insurance, dental and vision coverage, retirement plans (401(k)), life insurance, disability benefits, wellness initiatives, and other voluntary benefits.
  • Ensure benefits programs are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and FMLA.

Wellness Program Development and Management:

  • Design and implement a wellness program to enhance employee health and engagement.
  • Conduct needs assessments and surveys to tailor program offerings.
  • Select and manage wellness vendors and resources.
  • Coordinate wellness activities, workshops, and events.
  • Promote program participation through communication channels.
  • Track participation and outcomes to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Stay updated on wellness trends and research for program enhancement.
  • Collaborate with benefits providers to integrate wellness incentives.
  • Manage program budget and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Communicate program successes to senior leadership and employees.

Benefits Administration and Compliance:

  • Oversee day-to-day administration of benefits programs, including enrollment, eligibility verification, and processing of employee changes and terminations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for benefit vendors, managing relationships, resolving issues, and monitoring vendor performance.
  • Conduct regular audits and quality checks to ensure data accuracy and compliance with plan documents and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute communication materials, including benefit guides, summaries, and announcements, to educate employees about available benefits and enrollment processes.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment activities, including plan design updates, communication campaigns, and employee education sessions.
  • Manage benefits-related inquiries and escalations from employees, providing guidance, troubleshooting, and resolution as needed.

Financial Management and Analysis:

  • Monitor and analyze benefits costs, utilization trends, and demographic data to assess program effectiveness and identify opportunities for cost containment or optimization.
  • Develop annual benefits budgets, track expenses, and provide regular reporting to finance and executive leadership.
  • Conduct benchmarking studies and market analysis to ensure benefits offerings remain competitive within the industry and regionally.

Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:

  • Stay abreast of changes in benefits regulations, laws, and compliance requirements, ensuring timely updates to benefits programs and policies.
  • Prepare and file required government reports, such as Form 5500, nondiscrimination testing, and ACA reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel and external consultants as needed to address complex compliance issues or regulatory changes.

Employee Engagement and Education:

  • Develop and implement strategies to promote employee engagement with benefits programs, including wellness initiatives, employee assistance programs, and recognition programs.
  • Conduct educational workshops, webinars, or one-on-one sessions to help employees understand their benefits options, coverage levels, and utilization.
  • Solicit feedback from employees through surveys, focus groups, or town hall meetings to assess satisfaction with benefits offerings and identify areas for improvement.

We're Excited to Meet You! Ideally, You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration or related HR role.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits regulations, compliance requirements, and industry trends.
  • Experience managing relationships with benefit vendors and negotiating contracts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with employees at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Goal orientated, self-starter work ethic.

The starting salary range for this role is $75,000 annually commensurate with experience.
