Job Description
This is a part time position at our Shenandoah Work Center. The hours are 12:45pm-4:15pm. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.
CUSTODIAN
I. The Custodian is directly responsible to the Director of Operations.
II. The Custodian is responsible for completing duties as assigned by the Day Hab Lead Staff and the Director of Operations.
III. Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clean all restrooms 5 days a week. This includes toilets, sinks, floors, trash, and restocking of
supplies as needed.
- Collect and take out all trash daily. This includes from all offices, restrooms, kitchen, conference
rooms, client breakroom, and service areas.
- Vacuum all carpeted areas three times per week.
- Sweep and mop all other floors two times per week. This includes the client breakroom, Day Hab
entry, hallway, and Day Hab area. During winter months additional care may be needed dependent on weather.
- Clean large and small conference rooms one time per week. This includes wiping down tables and
chairs, vacuuming chairs, and dusting miniblinds.
- Clean and sanitize the drinking fountain daily.
- Clean client breakroom. Tables should be wiped down daily. Microwaves should be cleaned at least
weekly. Supplies should be restocked as needed (towels, napkins, plates, plastic utensils, etc.).
- Clean and dust the table next to the copy machine one time per week.
- Clean windows, both inside and outside. This should be done inside at least quarterly, and touched
up as needed. Outside should be done every 6 months.
- All other duties as assigned.
IV. Essential Functions:
1. Perform all custodial duties as directed.
2. Travel throughout the facility.
3. Operate necessary equipment.
4. Safely use and maintain all equipment and supplies.
5. Maintain compliance with Department of Transportation and agency Drug and Alcohol testing policies and procedures. Conform to all agency Drug and Alcohol testing policies.
6. All staff/volunteers of Nishna Productions, Inc. will comply with state and federal regulations regarding HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).
7. Every employee/volunteer of Nishna Productions, Inc. is on a need to know basis regarding the Protected Health Information (PHI) of the individuals they serve. Therefore, a security clearance level is assigned for each job description and those security levels are allowed access only to the information required to complete the duties in each position.
• Level One allows the least access and is intended for truck drivers, maintenance staff,
redemption center workers, and volunteers.
• Level Two is for direct care workers including; floaters/substitutes, SCLS, Day Hab
Instructors, Day-Hab aids, Vocational Trainers, lead staff, and 1:1 staff.
• Level Three includes the office support staff.
• Level Four is for Team Leaders, supervisors, and Work Center Supervisors.
• Level Five is the security clearance given to Program Managers.
• Level Six allows access to all PHI and includes Directors/Administrators, Quality Assurance,
and IT staff.
• Temporary clearance for PHI access can be given if staff require the access to
complete extra assigned duties (i.e. filling in for another department). Maintenance
personnel are given permanent access to areas where PHI is stored but they may
need to enter in order to complete their duties.
V. Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalency.
2. Individual "must not have or be a carrier" of a serious infectious or communicable disease such as, but not limited to, incurable, fatal, or debilitating diseases, which cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation. A current example would include, but not be limited to, tuberculosis. Determination of the existence of a serious disease is to be made by the proper medical authorities.
3. Must not have been legally convicted of any type of assault, abuse, or bodily injury.
4. Must conform to established DOT and agency Drug and Alcohol testing policies.
5. Exhibit knowledge of safety practices.
6. Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
7. Will be classified as a safety sensitive employee and subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
VI. Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work a scheduled shift, as assigned.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, squat, push, and pull.
- Must be able to operate equipment to perform custodial tasks. Ex., vacuum, mop, etc.
