Peru-Delivery Driver/Warehouse

Connor Co., a company with a rich historical background, currently has an exciting opportunity available at our Peru, IL branch for a Delivery Driver/Warehouse position. We are seeking a motivated individual with a strong commitment to building a long-term career with our organization.

This role presents an excellent chance to become an integral part of Connor Co.'s operations, responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of products to our valued customers while overseeing warehouse functions.

Candidates must:

• Pass a pre-employment background check and drug testing.
• Be available to work from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Principal Accountabilities:

Truck Preparation: Prepare the delivery truck for operation by inspecting its general condition, checking fluid levels, and tire pressure. Notify the Branch Manager of any required repairs after scheduling them.

Truck Maintenance: Maintain the truck's operating efficiency by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following the manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and scheduling necessary repairs.

Safe Loading and Delivery: Load the delivery truck securely to avoid damages to the products. Deliver items to their destinations, following established routes, and maintain the delivery schedule.

Delivery Progress Reporting: Utilize a cell phone to report on the progress of deliveries, ensuring effective communication with the company.

Return Item Pick-up: Collect returned items on behalf of the company.

Verification of Deliveries: Verify products delivered against packing slips and obtain customer signatures as a receipt of delivery.

Customer Service: Serve customers by understanding and resolving complaints or forwarding them to the appropriate channels for resolution.

Responsibility for Special Requests: Enhance the organization's reputation by taking ownership of accomplishing new and different requests as needed.

Inbound Materials Processing: Process inbound materials in the warehouse, comparing quantities shown on packing slips or manifests with the actual items received.

Efficient Warehouse Operations: Ensure efficient and effective loading and unloading of trucks, inspecting items as per instructions, and reporting damaged goods.

Warehouse Organization: Place materials in designated areas within the warehouse and stack skids or pallets appropriately.

Scrap Disposal: Clean up and dispose of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping in the proper containers or designated areas.

General Housekeeping: Perform general housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting to maintain a clean and orderly warehouse environment.

Customer Counter Assistance: Assist customers at the counter when required.

Ad-hoc Duties: Perform other duties as requested by supervisors or management.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

To be considered for the Delivery Driver/Warehouse position at Connor Co., candidates must meet the following requirements:

Education: A High School Diploma or its equivalent.

Driver's License: Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, and a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.

Driving Record: Applicants should have a clean driving record, indicating a history of safe driving practices.

Working Conditions:

Normal Warehouse Environment: The job involves working in a standard warehouse setting, which may include moderate noise levels, moving equipment, and machinery.

Weather Exposure: While performing deliveries and loading/unloading on the dock, candidates may be exposed to varying weather conditions and temperatures. This could include extreme heat, cold, rain, or other weather-related elements.

Physical Requirements: The position requires physical strength to lift and handle packages regularly, with weights of up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, heavier packages of up to 75 pounds may need to be handled.
