Job Summary

This position is responsible for the effective scheduling of maintenance for heavy equipment and construction vehicles as well as coordinating the inventory management process. The specialist will use the computerized management system to regulate the flow, maintain sources for parts, document costs, and ensure accurate counts of essential parts. The position also uses the system to priotize, plan, schedule, and review for accuracy all work orders to maximize mechanics efficiency and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities/Duties

Job Duties
  • Review all work order requests for accuracy and clarity by identifying scope of work, estimated completion date, proper lead times, correct equipment identification, accrurate charge number, proper authorization and provide details with originator
  • Obtain and organize all information required for maintenance team to perform work - drawings, vendor manuals, supplemental instructional materials, special procedures, and other file material used when appropriate
  • Schedule / assign work orders to technicians
  • Determine and identify any vendor delivered service for the work order
  • Manage the status of work control and backlog for work order submission to work order completion
  • Verify materials, information, tools and labor are available prior to scheduling
  • Locate and maintain sources for equipment parts, supplies and materials.
  • Perform daily activity in a manner that insures timely location and acquisition using the designated computer tracking system.
  • Perform accurate and timely computer transactions including parts issues, stock returns to ensure inventory integrity is maintained.
  • Receive, count, and inspect purchased items to ensure accurate quantity and quality.
  • Deliver parts and/or company materials to designated locations.
  • Process purchase requisitions and purchase orders in a timely manner.
  • Do periodic inventory counts of parts room items to ensure proper identification, re-supply needs and proper inventory counts.
  • Perform shipping functions in accordance with company and regulatory shipping standards.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly stockroom in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Data entry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Job Requirements
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Prior experience in inventory control and/or shop environment preferred.
  • Heavy lifting required.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift and pallet jack.
  • Team player - work well with others, ability to develop positive relationships with vendors, and interact with mechanics at a technical level.
  • Self-motivated - be able to work without supervision.
  • Computer knowledge with prior data-entry experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory record.
  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to read parts catalogs to identify correct parts to be ordered.
  • Ability Ability to work overtime and weekend as necessary; schedule may change to meet crew/mechanic needs
