Job Description

SUMMARY:

The greeting used by the bell person sets the tone for the guest's experience at the property. A bell person should use the customer's name when addressing the person to make them feel welcome and important. As they continue on the walk to the room, the bell person should point out areas of attraction in the hotel; such as the gift shop, the business center, and restaurants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • The bell person often accompanies the guest to the room
  • Pulling the luggage on a rack or by hand.
  • The bell person enters the room and turns on the lights. If it's daytime, the bell person may open the drapes.
  • The bell person should inquire about where the guest would like the luggage and point out the closets and any other features of the room.
  • The bell person will briefly explain how the WIFI accessed.
  • Bell persons typically remain in the lobby to assist with guest arrivals.
  • They will open doors of arriving guests.
  • Guests may require assistance carrying luggage into the hotel, or managing doors.
  • While not every bell person accompanies a particular guest to a room, every encounter with a guest should be helpful and cordial.
  • The Bell Person should maintain the cleanliness of the grounds outside the lobby.
  • The Bell Person should answer any guest questions.
  • Bell person often store luggage for guests checking in or out early.
  • The job description of a bell person includes impeccable grooming requirements.
  • Maintains regular scheduled attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned by the front desk supervisor/Manager.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of area and attractions preferred. Computer knowledge preferred.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Guest service experience preferred, but not required. Must be 16 years of age or older.
