SUMMARY:

Performs administrative, technical, and professional work in preparation for implementation of economic development strategic plans and goals. This full-time position is responsible for working closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to fulfill economic development goals of the corporation. This position will include working with all departments to promote economic development for the Santa Clara Pueblo.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manages economic development initiatives to achieve the goals and objectives outlined by the Economic Development Plan and initiatives directed by the CEO.
  • Provides assistance in the development of short and long term economic and community development plans, as well as the gathering of information and preparation of studies, reports, and recommendations to achieve such goals. This will involve the preparation and maintenance of information on utilities, taxes, zoning, transportation, community services, financing tools, and incentives, in order to respond to requests for information for economic development purposes.
  • Assists in marketing SCDC operated sites to outside big box retailers, and other interested businesses.
  • Maintains a relationship with various local, State, and Federal agencies, coordinating projects with agencies as deemed necessary and appropriate for the Corporation.
  • Assists with negotiation and the management of professional service contracts, property sales or acquisition, and economic development-oriented negotiations as assigned.
  • Serves as a member or works with economic development groups that promote economic and community development at the local, State or Federal level, as deemed necessary or appropriate.
  • Monitors legislation and regulations relating to economic development, and reports findings to the CEO.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. One to three years’ experience in business development, community planning, and/or economic development. management experience required.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess excellent communication skills, effective public speaking skills, and demonstrated project management skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex of documents, such as technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication, which conform to a prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, and public groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
