About this job

Senior Director of Operations serves as a senior level administrator in the region and is responsible for assisting the Senior Vice President and Regional Vice President in all aspects of regional leadership. In addition, the Senior Director is responsible for assisting the Ohio Leadership Support Team including, but not limited to enacting the organizational mission and vision, oversight of educational program goals and outcomes, managing human resources, and building and guiding professional culture.  Further, the Senior Director of Operation works toward developing evidence-based frameworks and practices which best support the needs of the students we serve.

RESPONSIBILITIES | WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Assists organizational leadership in planning and implementing effective programs of curriculum, instruction, supervision, and assessment
  • Develop and maintain a culture that embodies New Story Schools values and brings the mission/vision to life. The culture should be characterized by a welcoming atmosphere in which respect, disciplined behavior, hard work, and high achievement is expected of all students and staff. 
  • Provide high quality, time, and effective communication from New Story Schools leadership to staff, students, executive team, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance measures and provide ongoing assessment to ensure the provision of quality instruction and services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to motivate staff to meet high performance expectations, to instill high ethical standards, and create an atmosphere of teamwork and motivation.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with referral sources and other community networks. Represent New Story Schools to the external community.
  • Inform leadership about the latest education technology and research tools for improving our curriculum, instruction, and assessment systems and practices.
  • Provides Professional Development as needed in collaboration with the leadership team.
  • Engage in ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the instructional program.
  • Provides leadership in planning and conducting data driven curriculum studies.
  • Provides coordination and leadership for staff development activities for teachers and staff.
  • Advises Ohio Leadership Support Team on Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment decisions.
  • Oversees and manages the team that provides teachers with assistance toward solution of instructional problems.
  • Travel regularly to regional school locations.
  • Act as a Liaison with the Ohio Department of Education and ensures compliance items.
  • Oversees and helps to manage regional budgets for locations they oversee

QUALIFICATIONS | WHAT YOU BRING

  •  Master’s degree in school administration or relevant field
  • 10 years’ experience in a school environment with children with learning and behavioral challenges; 5 years of which were in a leadership position.
  • Commitment to and experience with students from diverse backgrounds with unique academic and behavioral needs
  • Experience in: Educational Support (curriculum, professional development, instructional technology support, textbook/supply resources) or Growth Planning and Leading (engaging communities and other leaders, legislative awareness, assuring representation at Central Office at ESC/CSA/LEA events, building needs for growth) strongly preferred.
