This role will work remote from home in any of our listed states and will report to the Vice President, Claims Operations.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

Manage all claims operations within the national injury claims team. Coach, manage, and provide development opportunities for managers and other claims staff within the casualty teams. Work closely with the Vice President of Claims Operations to execute injury claims strategy and to establish short and long-term goals, specifically in the areas of leadership development, loss cost management and customer experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coach, manage, and provide development opportunities for managers and other claims staff within the casualty teams to ensure an appropriate successor is identified.
  • Effectively communicate and support the claims organization's mission, strategic vision and the achievement of the overall claims operations objectives
  • Assist in developing and implementing the best practices and objectives for the claims operations.
  • Support vision and provide leadership to ensure claims objectives are met and are in line with the mission of the organization.
  • Identify opportunities to apply technology and business processes in innovative ways to reduce costs, improve quality and efficiencies, and enhance services.
  • Model leadership behaviors, motivate staff and promote a positive work environment.
  • Assure policies, state Fair Claims Practices Acts and operating practices and procedures conform to those policies, practices and procedures set forth in manuals and other publications supplied by the company and states we operate in.
  • Direct and participate in training of casualty related topics including bodily injury and first party medical claims handling.
  • Analyze injury claims operations and lead in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of metrics, processes, initiatives, service and overall results.
  • Effectively manage the cost containment strategies, expense management and injury team's expense budget.
  • Collaborate with sales, underwriting, actuarial, reinsurance, finance and other stakeholders to ensure knowledge sharing on market trends, legal changes, policies, loss developments and risk exposures.
  • Communicate with the agents verbally, in writing and through personal agent visits.
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Claims Operations to communicate and execute strategy for the claims operations and short and long-term goals.
  • Represent the company in all normal dealings with local authorities, businesses and vendors of products, supplies or services.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate, participate or lead various projects within the claims operations as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent in insurance or business is required.
  • This position requires a minimum of 3 years of casualty claims experience with knowledge of a broad array of personal and commercial insurance products.
  • Experience in a leadership position is desired.
  • The candidate must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of multi-state casualty claims operations, specifically large complex bodily injury and first party medical claims handling.
  • Professional insurance designations, such as CPCU, strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop leaders
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to lead, motivate and drive performance across business units.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to execute solutions.

  • Knowledge of current systems, applications and claims management tools.
  • Claims operations, including procedures, controls and organization.
  • Thorough knowledge of claims best practices, procedures, policies and guidelines.
  • Thorough knowledge of Encova's personal and commercial policy products.
  • Strong knowledge of the law as it relates to insurance and of insurance policies written by Encova.
