SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Quality Engineer with a focus on Automated Inspection machines programming to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming and operating Solder Paste Inspection machines (SPI) and Automated Optical Inspection Machines (AOI) to ensure the quality and accuracy of the soldering processes in electronic assemblies.

  • 2nd Shift (2:30pm-11pm)

Strong programming skills are necessary to create and modify inspection programs for SPI/AOI machines. Understanding of quality control processes in electronics manufacturing, particularly in soldering and PCB assembly, is important. This includes knowledge of IPC standards related to soldering.

Please note that proficiency in the following areas is necessary for this position:

  • Applicants should have a functional understanding of IPC standards (J-STD-001 / IPC-A-610). Prior certification, even if expired, is deemed acceptable. However, a review of the expired certificate will be necessary.
  • Proficiency in Solder Paste Inspection machine programming (SPI).
  • Proficiency in Automated Optical Inspection machine programming (AOI).
  • Understanding of KPIs and SPC.
  • SMT is another term used in the industry for PCB assembly. If the candidate has PCB assembly experience, they should be familiar with SMT process, which also includes SPI and AOI.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned).

  • Program and set up SPI machines based on product specifications.
  • Program and set up AOI machines based on product specifications.
  • Reading and understanding mechanical and assembly blueprints.
  • Following quality control procedures.
  • Conduct inspections and tests using SPI/AOI machines to verify the accuracy of solder paste application on electronic circuit boards.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to understand product requirements and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve programming or operational issues with SPI/AOI machines.
  • Ensure routine maintenance on SPI/AOI machines is done for optimal performance.
  • Keep detailed records of inspection results and machine settings.
  • Provide training and guidance to machine operators on proper usage and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in SPI/AOI machine technology.
  • Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly reporting on quality metrics to management, highlighting areas of success and improvement.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by management.



EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field; (Electrical Engineering preferred) -or-
  • 3-5 years' experience in Electronics Manufacturing or PCB industry or similar fields, preferably with at least 2+ years of experience in quality engineering, process engineering, or a similar role.
  • Technical certification in machine programming or electronics is a plus.
  • Proficiency in programming and operating Solder Paste Inspection machines.
  • Proficiency in programming and operating Automated Optical Inspection machines.
  • Strong understanding of electronic assembly processes and soldering techniques.
  • Attention to detail and ability to interpret product specifications accurately.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machine issues.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • IPC-610 and/or J-STD-001 Certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing monitoring and MRP systems.
  • Understand SPC.
  • Knowledge of military/aerospace, medical devices, CAPA and continuous improvement is desired.
  • Excellent project management skills.
