The Pub General Manager (PUB-GM) is responsible for the overall performance of the Pub and development of direct reports to achieve sales and financial goals. The GM will lead the management team to provide an outstanding customer experience – on brand and on budget, while delivering the optimal implementation of the Pub strategic plan. The responsibilities include delivering exceptional and knowledgeable guest service, all aspects of profits and loss, hiring and training of both management and hourly teams, daily execution of safety/sanitation, and high quality food preparation. The GM will also identify repetitive processes that should be streamlined and standardized in order to improve our efficient delivery of a superior customer experience at Crux. While the GM reports to the F&B Manager, they are accountable to senior staff for reporting metrics, forecasting business, and project management. It is essential that the GM form working relationships with all Crux employees, as such strong team relationships will be essential to the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the Pub. The GM is the face of the pub, and as such should always set a positive example.



ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS FOR PUB GENERAL MANAGER (Performed with or without reasonable accommodation)

  • Provide oversight and management of all Pub Operations to provide a heightened brand experience for guests and ensure profitability.
  • Take a hands-on approach to ensure an excellent level of hospitality to every guest.
  • Establish and maintain a strong system of communication within the pub through regular one on one meetings, team meetings, reviews and a welcoming open door policy.
  • Analyze, report and communicate financial metrics to report on the health and progress of the Pub as a stand-alone business. Use these metrics as a tool to drive program improvements. Develop the Pub management to utilize the tools to forecast sales, and labor, along with accurate inventory levels and supplies, retail inventory, etc.
  • Create and/or collaborate with the Pub management and finance personnel to draft and reinforce SOPs in all areas of the pub operations in order to ensure sound business planning, safety and profitable execution.
  • Coordinate the long-term planning for major events and seasonal planning (summer and winter). Focus program management on task responsibilities, accountability, timetable, and budgets.
  • Work closely with the F&B Manager, GMs and Chefs to create innovative ways to increase sales and profit company wide.
  • Participate in monthly leadership meetings.
  • Prioritize a list of proposed capital improvements to the Pub facilities on a quarterly basis. Oversee external resources involved in implementation.
  • Prepare and deliver financial analysis to justify proposed programs and expenditures.
  • Partner with marketing to promote events via social media and public relations and deliver the brand promise.
  • Manage the retail experience for our guests through merchandising and inventory levels with ongoing adjustments considering seasonality and sales performance.
  • Maintain the facility and grounds for seasonal changes and to expected standards.
  • Facilitate positive relationships with our neighbors by enforcing existing agreements related to parking monitoring/enforcement, control of Crux related litter and proactive communication regarding events.
  • Other projects to support the success of the business.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR PUB GENERAL MANAGER

  • Interpersonal Skills – ability to actively listen and cooperatively solve problems, relates well to others. Able to dynamically switch modes from leading to following to leading. The ability to lead a staff and to partner with senior leaders.
  • Effective Communicator – possesses strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills, diffuses difficult guest and employee situations, motivates the team towards business goals and to analyze and communicate numerical data. Conduct regularly scheduled meetings to effectively communicate the direction of the Pub.
  • Business Acumen – understands the business dynamics of the Pub, and has a career interest toward general business management.
  • Enthusiasm – understands the dynamics of craft beer, especially local and regional offerings. Remains abreast of competitive trends, local events, and other factors affecting the ecosystem in which Crux does business.
  • Leadership – able to lead others through positive encouragement; able to draw a hard line when necessary.
  • Personal Integrity – exhibits a high degree of professionalism and commitment to following through and achieving results.
  • Organizational skills – is able to triage and prioritize both day to day and longer term projects, allocating time to both urgent and non-urgent but important projects. Personally organized, project management skills, and holds themselves, their team and their peer partners accountable to shared commitments.
  • Results Focused – self-motivated, works as hard and long as needed to achieve results.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 2-plus years proven results as a General Manager or progressive experience in a high volume restaurant
  • Experience managing the culinary team, menu changes, seasonal demands and development.
  • Ideal background with fast casual, Pub, experience with an entrepreneurial, can do, spirit.
  • Experience managing and leading a seasonal business
  • Demonstrated writing skills and numerical analysis skills (samples may be requested)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, cloud-based computing and databases, mobile applications and other emerging technologies affecting Crux business.
  • Experience with craft beer, wine and spirits is desirable.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Reliable transportation for work
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekends, and holidays as necessary


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
  • Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside and frequently lift 20 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time
