Job Summary and Qualifications

As a PGY-1 Pharmacy Resident at TriStar Skyline Medical Center, you will fulfill the requirements of the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program in line with ASHP standards. Your primary responsibilities will include providing clinical services, staffing services, and drug information to patients, physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists. Additionally, you will conduct a medication use evaluation, a major research project presented at ASHP Mid-Year Meeting, and contribute to the education of pharmacy students.

What you will do in this role:

• You will provide clinical pharmacy services to ensure safe and rational medication use, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
• You will coordinate the delivery of clinical pharmaceutical care to assigned areas within the medical center.
• You will assist in training and developing staff pharmacists, pharmacy students, technicians, and nursing staff.
• You will provide pharmaceutical care through adherence to appropriate, safe, and cost-effective drug therapy protocols and policies.
• You will maintain a thorough understanding of hospital policies and government regulations, dispensing medications accordingly.
• You will consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient reactions, errors, and complaints.
• You will identify and consult on potential drug interactions to ensure patient safety.
• You will contribute to the supervision and training of pharmacy technician personnel.
• You will participate in drug utilization review processes to optimize medication therapy.
• You will assist in quality improvement initiatives, inventory management, and ordering of pharmaceuticals.
• You will monitor, record, and communicate patient information accurately using computerized documentation systems.
• You will apply knowledge of age-specific patient needs in your duties and responsibilities.
• You will adhere to standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as required.
• You will obtain ACLS certification during your residency year and maintain it while employed at TriStar Skyline Medical Center.

Qualifications:

• BS or Pharm.D degree from a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmacy Education
• Interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare team members
• Must schedule boards within 10 days of hire
• If not successful in passing the MPJE exam on the first attempt, must retake it within 30 days
• Tennessee state licensure as a Pharmacist must be obtained within 60 days of hire
