Position Summary

Carthage Forest Products is now seeking applications for a Procurement Manager. The Procurement Manager is responsible for the timely purchase of chips and wood residuals. The position is also responsible for assisting with obtaining buyers for and the selling of excess chips. The position is also responsible for the management of chipping operations and chip transportation.

Responsibilities

• Timely purchase and delivery of logs for respective Sawmill
• Manage the overall cost of delivered logs in line with the local market
• Review and prepare the Budget preparation
• Conduct forest inventories and assessments
• Review forest inventory management and controls
• Develop and implement forest management plans
• Grow the supplier force to meet the future consumption needs of the mill
• Field visits to correct/educate loggers on mill’s needs and specifications
• Train on Scale house duties for backup support
• Coordinate with Procurement Manager to ensure wood flow, and inventory volume is being met
• Work within procurement software to create and update supplier contracts
• Work with mill management/General Manager with continual improvement projects
• Generates new business (meets with potential clients, explains our business, secures contracts)
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Four (4) year degree in Forestry, Agriculture Science, Wood Products, Supply Chain/Logistics, or Business with 3-year experience or a minimum of 3-5 years’ of experience in Forestry
• Effective written and verbal communication
• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and I9 Verification process.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment

Manufacturing Plant -This is primarily a field position. Field activities may be physically demanding and are often conducted in harsh environmental conditions including temperature extremes, smoke, dust.

Physical Demands

This job requires the ability to sit, stand, lift, and move.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with overtime required.
