The ideal Manager, Design Engineering candidate will be a degreed Mechanical Engineer from an accredited university with at least 5 years managing a technical Design Engineering Group. Experience in product development and working with manufacturing systems is a plus.
The Design Engineer Group, under the direction of the Engineering Manager, is responsible for creating 3D models for new product designs and creating accurate drawings for production so the product is built properly.
The Manager, Design Engineering will be expected to:
- Provide the day-to-day management of the design engineering group, which is responsible for creating new product ideas and conceptual design.
- Oversee and participate in the development of mechanical, hydraulic, power transfer and structural designs, and the development of Company documents (Design Manuals, O&M Manuals and Manufacturing documents) to support those designs.
- Work with existing staff and other Company departments to establish scopes for new designs or to address existing design concerns.
- Assist in the development of standard systems and products.
- Write and/or revise the existing maintenance manuals or product instructions.
- Provide support for Manufacturing, Sales, Field Service, and other Departments within the Company.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Possess an Engineering Degree from an accredited university, Mechanical degree highly preferred.
- 5+ years managing a technical Design Engineering Group.
- Experience in product development and manufacturing systems is a plus.
SPECIAL SKILLS
- Sound engineering fundamentals
- Product design and development skills
- The ability to analyze problems and define an achievable path to a solution
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, power transfer and structural design
- Ability to develop concepts into manufacturable products
- Ability to apply sound engineering fundamentals to designs
- The ability to utilize Inventor/AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of CFD, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and MathCAD is a plus.
- Periodic travel will be required (15 to 25%).
